I was gonna say try Bruce at left back, but I remembered the only game he started at fullback last year he got sent off haha
It's never a surprise for teams to perform well against teams in a higher division in the cups. We beat the scum deservedly in the FA cup, doesn't mean we would win the league. If you don't think Becchio, Snodgrass, Howson and Gradel make up part of a great team there's something wrong with you. I don't see at all how everything points to a home win, us having a better squad should have some say in the result. All the promoted teams last year did well because they strengthened and knew the strength of the division, never taking any game for granted. I'd be glad Adkins clearly doesn't have the same attitude as you.
Spot on assesment IMO. Saints probably look a bit stronger than we did when we came up purely as I rate 3 out of 4 of your first team defenders & ours (although we strenghened were awful) One thing I would say though, is not many fans tipped us for 7th & would have ripped your hand off if we got offered that in our first season back, the only disapointment was we dropped out of the top 6 at the wrong time. St Marys wont be an easy place to go this year.
This time last season, the consensus among Leeds fans was that survival was the primary objective and anything else would be a bonus. Until October/November time, we were looking like we'd be bottom half also-rans.
I'd be embarrassed if we don't sell out for this game, 30,000 v Leeds in League 1 so we should get at least that for Saturday.
didnt say that. we already brought in two cracking players. we are strengthening, you dont know what you're on about.
It's on TV, people are on holiday, we no longer only have just the three or four big games a season. I wouldn't be shocked, or disappointed, if we failed to get above 25,000.
Everybody knows that the Championship this season is the most competitive league in its history. There are about 14/15 teams possibly even more that could reach the play-offs this year with Saints and Leeds included. We've seen last season that it is not about who has thrown the most money at challenging for promotion, or who has the best individual players, but in fact it is all to do with team spirit and organisation. Norwich got promoted because every player understood their roles in the team and they had a young and hungry manager combined with an experienced team who knew how to win matches. I feel as though Saints possess these same qualities as Norwich but have just the little bit of extra individual quality, so promotion is possible. However, I think it is absolutely crucial that like Grant Holt, Lambert makes the step up with ease and scores a similar tally of goals that he's scored for the previous two years, with the other strikers chipping in as well. To be fair to Leeds, if they can find the balance between attack and defence, they have a very good chance of promotion.
Just to let people know - we'll be going back to just a match thread only on the Saints board next time. Thank god too. Sorry my Fault BT
Whys that? Think you will be missing a trick personally. Obviously both teams are going to fancy there chances but the banter has hardly got out of hand. I personally love match day threads, great to get other teams opinions & chat to new posters.
There are plenty of forums for one club's fans only; on not606 we have the privilege of not being so narrow-scoped.
I totally agree. So long as WUMs aren't involved, it's a lot better when both sides are involved in match threads.
