Maybe in the same way that we see the best of Tadic on the left, we'd see the best from Redmond on the right? I thought that was his position before he came here.

When you’re protecting a lead he causes defences problems, helps keep the opposition pegged back and stops them attacking. Attack is the first line of defence.

tough call, but I think we can agree that if fit, Mario comes into the team, which means Pierre or Davis steps down. I think that its a slap in the face to Pierre to say to him sorry you were MOTM (by many)on Sunday and added that dimension to the midfield that has been missing for the season, but you are back on the bench. Pierre is a more natural DM which we will need against City. Berni gets the Captains band, although I would play Yoshi instead of Hoedt as he is more mobile

Agree Lemina is the better player. But after a performance like that you cannot drop Davis, sends completely the wrong message. And I would drop VVD over hoedt, he looks less mobile now. Never goes on runs and fell on his arse rather than tackling gilfi.

Ah, Fighting over who to drop because they all played well. I missed that.

Much more enjoyable than fighting over who to drop because they're all ****.

Finally had a proper lunch break and seeing as I totally missed the match yesterday - couldn't even follow it on the BBC text commentary thingie - I thought I'd (finally!) pop in and see if you lot were raving about the team... and you are!! :1980_boogie_down:Mind you, I read from the beginning which in hindsight is the only way to go with these threads after a win :emoticon-0136-giggl I recorded MotD last night but probably won't get to see it until Friday when I'll hope to watch the whole 90 minutes as well. Anyone noticed that Garth Crooks has totally ignored Hojboj and Boufal and plumped for Bertrand in his team of the week?

Yes I saw that, I can only suppose he was short of left backs to choose from and had to grit his teeth and pick a Saints player.

Statistically, hitting the woodwork counts as an off target shot.
Siggurdsens shot hit the woodwork three times, so does it count as an off target shot that somehow ended up in the net?
    Goal scorer “the crossbar”?

It's only off target if it hits it and bounces out. If it goes in off then it's on target surely?

How about a shot that's going wide until it hits a defender and ends up in the net?

It's an own goal unless it's Harry Kane or Zlatan, then the media knock one out over how good a goal it was.

We used to hit the crossbar regularly and then be told we had no shots on target....presumably because no one had to save it.

Yeah I know if it bounces out then it is off target but surely if it goes in off the post then it's on target?

Ah, pelle, the only player to hit the woodwork three times for each one that hit the net.

What, barely 5 minutes of action followed by a discussion on why Everton lost?

Well that was fun. Sorry I haven’t been on much recently as we have just moved and I am surrounded by boxes and have a list DIY tasks as long as my arm.
I know that Everton were truly awful but there was a different attitude on display yesterday. Leaving aside the individual plaudits, I saw more movement off the ball, more pressing the opposition up the pitch and more conviction in the tackle than, well, the first Home game of the season. That day nobody had their shooting boots on of course but otherwise the attitude was really good. The only cause for concern regarding their equaliser (FF not at all to blame from my view behind the goal- it was just a great shot) was that it came originally from us losing possession after trying to play our way out of defence. I am all in favour of this as a rule but if you are getting closed down several times and the ball hasn’t moved out of the danger area after 4 or 5 passes, put your laces through it is a reasonable decision. That aside, I loved the whole game. Dammit- the team looked like they were enjoying themselves and how often can you say that was the case this season?

We must sit near one another too then Channon - apparently it’s seen by some as weird, but we should say hello some point prior to a game. Be lovely to meet you.
