Sounds to me like RM is projecting his own frustrations in that interview. He knows what we should be doing, where we should be better, where we should be doing more and he knows where we are doing well. The criticism of the team is valid, At the same time he’s on a very good run. Still it’s not good enough to look like firm league title contenders which is the objective and the frustration will be building.
The only frustration for me is this. We're winning matches, we've plugged the leaking defence, we're learning how to get a result. Anyone who thinks that we have a divine right to coast through the year winning 3-0 or more, is, sadly, totally deluded. After the last disastrous 3/4 years, I'm getting satisfaction from the fact that I no longer have to find other things to do every time we play. I still get annoyed but find me a supporter who doesn't even at some fancy northern club!!
Good win, nice to get home sheet clean, and probably Charles' best game for us. But the performance was poor and the game was utterly forgettable. Easily the worst game at SMS this season. If Bristol City take one of their first half chances, they see it out for their own 1-0 win.
Yep. Plymouth away he was MotM, but this was an equally solid performance. He's very raw, but you can see the hallmarks of the City Academy in him. Can turn on a sixpence, carries the ball well, and isn't afraid to try passing it through the middle.
I know what you mean but anyone younger than 52 won't have a clue, and certainly no one at City. It reminds me of a story about a millionaire ( Nubar Gulbenkian) who said "my new Rolls Royce will turn on a sixpence, what ever that is".
To be fair to him I find Blackmore more than a little annoying. He got under his skin with the first question and the interview never recovered from that point on.
Jesus Christ. If someone gets under your skin that easily, never: a) go to the pub with men b) have an argument with an ex c) play Sunday league football d) visit a school playground e) leave the house
Just watched post match presser. Doesn't sound good with Ross! Might have to dip into the funds in Jan! Poor guy.
We had a 15 year old making his debut up front in the last u21s game (Ali Gomes). I reckon he'll play a full 90 minutes for the first team before Ross Stewart.
We can and likely should be better, but the reactions to our performance to date are shaped by the fact that this is a really weird Championship season. 34 points in 18 would have had us second at this time last year, a point back of Burnley. It'd have been good for third the year before, third (level on points with second) the year prior, third the year before that. The gap to second makes it look like we're doing worse than we are, as it feels like we need to win each and every match now, but it's largely that Leicester/Ipswich have the best combined records for two top-of-the-table teams since 2005-06. There isn't much we can do about that beyond continuing to put up points and hope they don't keep up this historically good pace.
I don’t find myself disagreeing with him much. His clear disdain for Nathan Jones is a little unprofessional. I wonder what happened there?
Not related to long term injury, but by Martin’s reaction, doesn’t sound good. No way this weekend. Says they’ll know more by today I think. He didn’t look hopeful basically.
