Iffy first half, saved by Baz. Good (if a little dull) second half. Alcaraz excellent second half, as was KWP and THB. The only real chances they had were from bad Manning passes in that second 45.
Thank me for the improved second half. Turned it off and came to the gym. We were guaranteed to improve
Positives - a clean sheet, two Baz saves, a KWP bullet. Negatives - a dire goal difference, a dire scoring record, a turgid playing style.
I am obviously pleased we won, and that was a good half, but I can't get that first half out of my head. We should have been 3-0 down at the break and it wasn't just how fragile we looked. It was turgid, slow, unenthusiastic and totally unacceptable. Yes, one half like that is okay now and then - but it literally followed on from the second half against Huddersfield. That would have been the one thing they had made their key point this game - energy and movement. Yet they came out with none whatsoever. Happy with the result but I am worried about the next game and the season as a whole. We must buy a leader or get Jack back in the team ASAP.
Well. I have thoughts. Happy to see us taking 3 points but I'm unconvinced by this current setup. Another tight single goal game while teams we have struggled to beat get comfortably beaten by rivals. Aside from the goal, I'm struggling for big positives to be honest.
This great run continues, albeit we wern't great today. I do wonder how much of this run is due to Martin and how much is just because of individual quality - today being a prime example. Can't knock Martin at the moment as we are winning games. But we rarely play that well or win comfortably. Maybe it'll come in time!
Yeah a lot of good performances second half. Downes and Charles both excellent in midfield. And Charly getting his confidence back.
I would be happy if we went with 2 up top on Saturday just so Charly can play in the hole as he did second half. He was finding so much space between the lines and even when closed down he was spinning out of trouble. Crazy how a goal changes games so much, totally disrupted Brizzle’s game plan from the first half once we started moving the ball better.
Leicester concede last minute equaliser to bottom club Wednesday. So it's not just Saints who struggle against sh*t teams.
Ignoring the last 15+ mins of the first half where we looked poor going forward, bit harsh on Sulemana. He should’ve scored in the opening minutes with our only chance in the first half though
It was nothing to do with that! Che did **** all as his replacement. The entire team simply stepped it up 2nd half.
