At least eleven of them, with some semblance of a set of tactics. You know, an attempt to play football for the entire period between the start of the match and the end of the match. I was going to say '90 minutes', but then we lose in added time
You have to consider what its real purpose is, it's a League which replaced the old "Reserve" Team. It basically is a League for young players to become men. Playing overage players is a useful tool to get injured players some competitive minutes while passing on their experience. We have a situation where some first team squad members don't play a minute of competitive football for ages, this can't help them to get back in to the groove when called upon. Whenever we start to get a competitive squad together, that is winning games, which is great for their development, it gets split up and it all goes back to square one. This was a one off opportunity to do some good in a very bad Season, and they failed to do that by not playing some of their best available players that could have made the difference. That's why I am a bit spiteful about it.
Yeah, I totally understand. And like you I always keep a keen eye out for the youth teams and players. They're the only positive to come out of this season, and I totally get that the PL2 final win would have been a nice thing to show for it. It's just that when I try to put myself in the shoes of say, Jay Robinson, I can't see how anything would outweigh making a Premier League debut in terms of importance.
Big day as Saints try to escape a final day drubbing v the Arse and Hampshire try to avoid an innings defeat v Sussex Ho Hum
I'm clinging to the hope that the relative fortunes of Saints and Hampshire are either end of a metaphorical see-saw. As Hampshire just scraped past losing by an innings (they still lost, but it could have been slightly worse), I confidently predict that Saints will win 2-1, after Arsenal take an early lead. Probably.
We’re going to get ****ed over, aren’t we. A back 4 of players with so few minutes of action, in recent weeks/months. I might have to carry on binge watching One Foot in the Grave for my sanity.
