4 wins and a draw in the last five games. It is good. Not every game is going to won. It was away. Walcott can not score a hat trick every game. Not everything will go right every game. Arsenal are only 2 points behind Spurs if they win their game in hand with a very long way to go. It is not right the reaction given to single games.
The people he subs are rarely a mistake, but the timing on Giroud WAS a statement as it is highly unusual of him to change something so early. As for Cazorla he saw what everyone else did, he's off form, and he subbed him at around the time he does most of his 'regular' subs.
However the performances need to be improved but you're right. its not all doom and gloom like some would have us believe.
I thought we [Southampton] sat deep to stop you utilising the pacey players in behind and as you struggled to play through us; we defended well but really I thought if anyone was going to win today it was us. I thought that your defence looked quite good, however that was about it and I was surprised that Cork being a midfielder playing right back was not tested more defensively. Pleased with a point, however it could/should have been three. Good luck for the rest of the season.
Walcott requires service as he is no RVP, it's hardly a shock that he is not going to get a bucket load of chances when our main creator is in your words, 'off form'. We basically have two CF's that can't create something out of nothing like RVP did last season. So they both require the team to be clicking as an attacking as unit, so when the midfield fails, so do they. Solution is to buy someone that does which would mean spending some serious money or play a system that can get the best out of both the CF's we have. (4-4-2). Even when we are struggling and chasing a game, Wenger rarely adjusts his rigid system, and it's pissing me off.
;-) I did say in November that fans will eventually start getting pissed at Podolski once the honeymoon period is over, just like with Arshavin. He did do something today, he was the architect of Southampton's first goal. This is why I think we're in serious need of another creative midfielder who can play out wide.
When you play as badly as we did today, it is bad, even Wenger said it was 2 points dropped and was very negative in his assessment, which is highly unusual. The fact we were on a good run makes today's falter bad, when you're on a good run, the most important thing is to keep the momentum, especially in games that are winnable. Southampton were 18th, we were on good form, scored 7 in our last game, so in that context it is an overall bad day.
Because when no-one was open and 5 or 6 guys watching allowing him to get triple teamed? He should have cleared it better but if anyone was the architect it was Sagna. Not to mention he is wasted out wide.
We all admitted that. The thing is with all the "We are ****, won't get Top 4, **** club" knee-jerks is what he's talking about.
Maybe Southampton defended well and stifled you through the middle and won most of the second balls. The lack of attacking threat because you were nullified going through the middle. We are not a bad football side and you cannot go away and expect to beat teams if you don't play well even if we are 18th. You dominated Reading but once you sat back for 10 mins you were punished.
Yes, and if referees did their ****ing jobs properly and given a penalty against Vermwhathisface and allowed a perfectly good goal (Pushing? Do me a favour!) then we'd have thrashed you. Worst visiting team performance at St Mary's this season. But to be fair, we didn't let you play, we owned you. Cheers.
Make no mistake about it Southampton were the better team and were robbed of a win by a poor mistake from the linesman. Been impressed with Saints this season. They should have beaten United and should have beaten Arsenal, they tend to dominate possession in games as well. We will have our work cut out for us on Saturday. Good point for Arsenal under the circumstances but they need to win that game in hand v West Ham now. If they don't then it's well and truly in Chelsea and Spurs hands.
Actually, more simple, just kick it out for a throw in. One of the basics you are taught in football, is that whenever your under pressure near the goal area, just kick the ball out for a throw in, instead of taking any risks etc, just put it out. Podolski was the architect, he gave the ball away in a bad area, which led to the goal, simple as that.
Calm down, dear. It was a foul. When you put both your hands on the back of a CB and push him, I think it's safe to say it's a foul. Even Matt Le Tissier, who was the pundit and kept saying 'we' when talking Southampton throughout the game, had to concede that it was a foul. We also had a shout for a pen, when Jack Cork possibly handled the ball in the area. Worst team to visit your ground? Funny that, I would say you were the worst team to visit the Emirates this season, 6-1 was it?
What poor mistake? Seriously, when were forwards allowed to use both their hands to push a CB in the back with? It unbalanced Kos and their player got an unfair advantage, thankfully the lino spotted the foul.
The hell are you talking about. Kos was pushed and if the situation was reversed you would say the ref got it right. VErmalean did get the ball and some of the man but IMO it wasn't a pen
Southampton looked more busy in attack and might have had more shots on goal, but how many really clear cut chances did they actually create? A draw was the fair result in the end.
