Worst of all I was so close to 3pts in the Prediciton League for this game - I just didn't see us scoring...
Well no because it is fairly obvious when you compare our team to the rest in the league! I'm not saying 100% we will not go down. I am saying with the quality in this squad, Puel should comfortably keep us up. It's not rocket science.
I intend to hibernate for a while...nothing to do with you...you are entitled to say anything you want. I just want to lick my wounds.
Oddly, I was more inclined to call for it before we made a hash of the transfer window. I wouldn't fire Puel now; I would be lining replacements up for the summer, however.
Exactly what I just said. We aren't far off being brought into it but as of yet we aren't fighting relegation.
I mean this is what was going to happen. Down hill all the way. The style of play and his interviews ha.ve no excitement. Can't wait for his pre Wembley match day interview
Okay. But, we are now one more injury away from having a very weak defence. Imagine if Cedric gets injured. Or even worse Romeu. We will have to score 3 goals every game just to get some draws.
That's debatable. With injuries to Austin and Van Dijk, there are really only a few outstanding performers in our lineup, and a lot of average or below average players. And also probably the worst central defence pairing in the whole league.
I am by no means comfortable about the situation, but it's too early for us to start worrying. Us, the fans, that is. The manager, players and board are a different matter, and they will have to start pulling some irons out of the fire soon. Maybe start looking for an out-of-contract CB under a stone somewhere?
I'd say we already have a weak defence to be honest with you and you're quite right about being an injury away from complete disaster. Say Yoshida got injured, Gardos and Stephens would be our back 2. The board have to take most of the blame of giving Puel very few options but Our squad still isn't that bad.
Yeah, I think this is about right. We're not quite in real trouble but if we lose to Sunderland and other results go against us while we're playing the League Cup game we could be in quite an uncomfortable position by the time we play our next league game.
Don't forget we did have Fonte and VVD for half the season. But compare our squad to Sunderland, Palace, Swansea, Hull, Boro and it's clear we are much better.
I was not overly endeared to him, but you have to give him a chance. After selling off most of our attacking threat, I think he has done okay. Maybe he has been a little lucky with how good our academy is. But, he needed to bully Les in Jan, and has done both of them no favours by accepting our weakened defence.
We have some very good players for sure. Some excellent players in fact. But if you have a piss-poor defence in this league, the rest of the squad is irrelevant.
I wouldn't fire him either but - in the interests of preparing for every eventuality - I might start thinking about managers who could come in, give the squad a short term boost and win a couple of games.
