Not true, what earned us the points last night was realising his mistake and switching to a back four, otherwise we'd have lost.

If either Saints or Arsenal had taken their ample chances it would have been a different story, in other words we were fortunate.

The players can't play it, they are uncomfortable and vulnerable with it, and it has to end. Hopefully the return of Evans and, soon, Shaw will put a stop to it.

    Forever.

What chances? Saints had 3 on target and surelt de gea takes the credit anyway for most of it. Cant call it lucky if hes doing his job and keeping the ball out of the net?

Did we go to a back 4? Though carrick went into defence and calmed things a little. Carrick should alway play in defence of we have to play a back 3 though.

Im with you though. Hope it doesnt get used again.

I didn't like it under Fergie, but at least you could understand considering our deteriorating midfield. The only criticism then was, why the hell aren't we rebuilding the midfield?! But now, the "win when playing badly" is just a cop out because we have the players to actually play. The best cliche now is "if the opposition don't have the ball, they can't score, they can't hurt you." We have the players to do that.

LVG put out a team set up to bully and harry in midfield. It was bound to invite pressure and cause us to defend deep, unable to clear out from our own half. When he realised Herrera should never have been benched and put him on, he wanted the team to completely change what they had been set up to do. But that is bloody hard when you've lost the momentum and it's not how you'd prepared. I don't fault our best players for that.
