Let me start off with a big thankyou to all the regular posters on this site who manage to keep not only me but a good squad of my mackem friends who work away from home for 9 month of the year updated on our fine football club.

I managed to watch the game today from japan(visiting girlfriend and meeting parents for 1st time) and have to say I was baffled with a lot of pdc decisions prior and during the game, the 1st being the omission of cabral, now I know this could come down to injury so I could forget that one.....
the second was switching Johnson and giacherrini over as neither is a typical take on your man and hit the byeline kinda winger and as last week showed are far more dangerous cutting inside and causing defences problems and where I feel Southampton were vulnerable today and were there for the taking on the counter,

sessegnon, now I know by regulary reading this forum has suddenly became a scapegoat alongside Larson but what did he actually do wrong today in a 1st half where we were being penned back after the early goal, he worked tackled tried to link up play on the few occasions we fed him and could have been a real asset in a stretched 2nd half when Southampton were taking chances and leaving themselves open to counter attack.

altidore, not knocking the boy as I thought he played well last week but today was poor throughout the 90 and can't for the life of me see why he lasted the full 90, he was bullied all game and didn't half go to ground a lot for a guy his size and stature and was shown in 10 mins how to stand up to defenders by young whickam !!!!

larrson, thought he played well today worked his socks off put himself about and generally kept the ball on a day when we treat it like a hot potatoe, now I know he has his boo boys although i'll never understand people getting on the backs of someone who plays for our club and no fault of his own gets picked in a position which is not his best yet still gives effort, i'm not saying he's a quality premier league player but is a good squad player of which we have been short of depth in last few years so come on boys save your griping for the kinda player who likes to tweet about our misgivings which only hurts the loyal fans who have backed him throughout his safc career and not at the people whom he is aggrieved with....

colback, thought he was solid again today and was baffled when he was brought off at a time when our defence were handling whatever Southampton could throw at us, unless of course he picked up an injury otherwise why not take off gardner who was already on a yellow card and was one of our weakest players at that stage of the game !!!!

I honestly think pdc got it wrong today and if we'd have finished the game with

    westwood

    celustka diakate jos colback

    Johnson larrson Vaughan giach

    sess

    whickam/ji

we'd have been able to hurt Southampton on the counter in the last 30 and went on and won the game, now this is just my humble opinion and i'm sure many won't agree tho some will disagree solely cos they need scapegoats from year to year.

rant over lol btw thought diakate was immense today after a shaky 1st 5 mins and the defense on a whole was outstanding, again thanks to the regulars keep on posting and scouring internet for news on transfers as it is much appreciated from the lads strung out across the globe KTF and FTM

Just have to agree to disagree over Sess and Seb. On another day we could easily be sat here with a 5-1 defeat. Not many have said much about Westie. Our MOTM by a million miles. we got mugged last week and we mugged Southampton for a point today. Agree with Colback, could make that position his for years to come.

Might have to start supporting Hartlepool as the likes of Larson and Sess, Ji and Wickham, just don't have my support.

Agree with most of your post apart from Larsson who isn't my scapegoat, he is someone that baffles me and I voice my opinion on what I watch..

You then go on to have a go at Wardrobedoor and Gardner which for the most part I agree with. <ok>
How come that isn't making THEM scapegoats?
Because you are voicing your OPINION. hahahahaha

As usual, all the Sess lovers will find a reason why he was rubbish and try to convince us he was OK, "hassling their defenders" etc. The fact that he rarely kicked the ball seems to have escaped them. Get rid ASAP!

The only opinion that really matters is that of PDC. Where was Sess in the second half?

have to agree on the westy comment there mate who I thought was outstanding but think diakate just say pipped him today and the reason I forget to give the lad a shout is cos I've always known what a talent he is and have always thought he was better than mig and was totally behind selling a keeper and making a huge profit towards rebuilding when we already had westy on the books, can't agree on seb today tho mate although it is only my opinion but i can't see why people have a go when the boy next to him today yet again struggled to pass a ball, time a tackle and generally runs around like a chicken with no head on. personally i'd rather give ba a run as i think as a club we generally never give youth a chance just as in whickams case 5 mins here or there won't bring a young kid on just look at our opponents today who continually give youth a chance and reap the benefits,
i'm not for one second saying seb would be in my starting 11 but am baffled as to how he continually gets mocked when the likes of gardner go by unmentioned.

for me sess was a far better option on the counter in the 2nd half than the out of sorts altidore

I'm not one of his "lovers" I'm a Sunderland supporter commenting on what I actually saw.
What I saw was a player running his socks off trying to make something happen, putting a shift in for the team
I didn't see him get passed a ball in a dangerous area once.
So how the hell he can kick the ball when no ball was getting delivered to him is beyond me.
Everything was hit and hope and chase that!

Maybe the Sess HATERS are just trying to find fault no matter what!

hahaha can see where your coming from but as I said I wasn't knocking altidore as I thought he looked impressive last week but today wasn't his day and as for gardner i'm a much bigger fan as a rb although as cover but just don't see him as a centre mid mate but will always have my support whilst wearing the shirt regardless of opinion

Ah so it isn't a scapegoat if it is preceded by a compliment. Gotcha. <ok>

Larsson was ****ing brilliant a year and a half ago with his superb freekicks, but now he is ****e. :p

we are 2/3 maybe even more signings away from being a force imho, cm is not good enough, jozy is made for fletcher, the sooner our sparta is back the better, they attacked colback like fook today and that will continue until we get a proper lb in (thats the reason he was taken off imo)

larsson and vaughan are disposable for me.

gards was better in cm than rb nearly went to 10 coz of him, bring in 2 x cm and he becomes disposable aswell for me.

sess is wearing my patience thin now like

everyone else is ok in my book

like you say marra, opinions, thats mine ^

agree mate seb was brilliant year and a half ago as a right midfielder which his position, and agree isn't a prem league cm but thought he battled well in a backs to wall game and can't knock that effort, if he was continually rubbish as a rm then I would have to agree but pdc picks the team, as for altidore just cos I thought he was poor today doesn't mean I don't rate the boy just thought a change would have helped today as all good players have offdays !!!

agree with a lot of that mate but don't think we're in a position to dispose of anyone as we have struggled recently with lack of numbers, left back and a ball playing cm and I really think we can push for top 10 feel more optimistic this year than I have in quite a while

Yeah but neither did altidore but you seem ok to slag him off??
I know your Sunderland through and through but give altidore a break man, he will def score goals for us IMO...

Who put the precision ball in for the goal?

Sess needs to make is mind up, stay or go.

I would go to Az Alkmar and buy the midfielder(s) who were putting the balls through for Altidore to score, what use is a gun without its bullets.

Absolutely we cant mate, got to get the bodies in first, think the bardo situation hoyed a massive spanner in the works but then we shouldnt have played the burke!

Whatever happens between now and the window closing makes or breaks us imo.

We'll get 3 points next week regardless

In the utube (I know) of Altidore, wasn`t there a free kick in exactly the same position as Larssons where he curled it into the top left corner?

What was wrong letting him have a go?

Not sure of the PDC obsession with Larsson.
