Gutted for Pickford. Looked nervy all game to me but still delivered an outstanding performance. But then the nerves finally cracked.

    Still. We're up and running.

Bigger keepers than JP have had their moment. All part of toughening him up mentally. My man of the match until then. He will come good no doubt about that.

there's a lot of pressure on him, due to the rest of the team / position we're in.

a good experience for him, as i'm sure he'll get over it. would have taken a draw all day long. shame about the fashion in which it arrived.

Point away from home, heavily depleted team, one new (sound looking) debutant...take that all day.

Same problem as last season mate. Every time the ball goes forward it comes straight back. We just invite wave upon wave of attacks. That's because of Defoe upfront on his own. Still not convinced as I never have been that Defoe as lone striker is the best way to set up.

Same here mate. It seems like it's only the class of Defoe that gets him most of his goals, just a 'decent' striker wouldn't get double figures in that team.

Our wide players don't create enough, either. Pleased with the result, but our team still worries the **** out of me.

You have to back the kid, make sure he learns from his mistakes.

We did it with De Gea and now we have one of the best keepers in the world.

Weaker than the one that finished last season imo. Diamonds are creeping back in. Maybe it's a good time to sort him a striker partner.

Thought Djilibodji had a great game and Manquillo had excellent debut. Couple of more signings and we could make progress

Aye, had a shocker of a first season and you can't doubt his quality now.

Still very pleased with Pickford, he'll be gutted.

Agreed. The nerves will subside with game time and experience will help him deal with the little spinning deflections that did him today.

he was exactly who i thought of. he had a few shaky games to start off, but look at him now. Jordan needs to keep playing regularly to get used to the league and others show their confidence in him.

Monty, Jimmy that is, made a few mistakes early on but you knew he would be a great keeper, got the same feeling about this kid, he will become a legend.

Thommo was singing the lads praises for most of the game, he'll learn a lot from this if you keep the faith.

If he's dropped it could knock him for six.

The plus for him is that he can't be dropped, we have no one else!

He's gotta stay in the side, confidence grows from faith and anyone can make a mistake.

We will back him to the hilt from the stands cos he's one of ours.

Positives today again we aren't as far gone as folk have panicked into thinking, 2 or 3 in and we are ok I think.

I agree we need to keep the ball better final 3rd, but let's be honest a fit Mackembauers immediately improves ball retention and takes pressure off back 4, even Catts who may be back after the break.

I'm alright at the minute we are alright I think.

I only saw the second half but Pickford looked incredible to me and his error didn't ruin his performance. Like Tel says as long as he learns from it then it's all part of development. There's clearly a great keeper there, just to highlight one thing I don't think I've ever seen a keeper get up so fast after a save, there'll be a lot of stunning double and triple saves in his future.

Totally agree with all that's being said about Pickford - gutted on his behalf. Must say I also thought Pienaar had a very good game and hardly put a foot wrong - played safe when he had to and Gooch will certainly learn a lot about the Premier league with Pienaar along side him. A neutral may say that the result was deserved - but I believe if we had held on it wouldn't be seen as a steal. However with a Cattermole and a Kirchoff in this side we deffo would have taken all three. All in all when our senior sidelined players are back we will have an half decent side, 2/3 good additions and we will have a decent squad and I believe we will aquit ourselves well this season - no worries Moyes vision will come to fruition.

The fact that we've finally got a good back four is massive to us. Possibly even a great back four.
