Yeah, Chinese were encouraged to invest in European football and then the govt changed direction and made it pretty much impossible for them to move assets and spend on the clubs they'd then acquired
Thanks DTLW . it’s as I seemed to remember . So GAO didn’t invest because his hands were tied by the Chinese Govt and not necessarily because he didn’t want to !
Does it matter what Gao’s intentions were? This isn’t the ‘we hate Gao’ club. What matters is under his time we stagnated and became the likeliest club to go down. If we could have invested during that time I would argue we should now be very hard to displace from this ridiculously wealthy league.
