looks like Rickie lambert is fit for you guys as expected...from the Beeb: Good news for Southampton, Rickie Lambert has overcome a knock and should feature in against Norwich on Wednesday. Saints' top scorer picked up the leg injury in the 2-0 defeat of Newcastle but trained today and should be involved against the Canaries.
Wouldn't be surprised to either see JRod for the first 60, or for the last 30. Depending on how Rickie is feeling, and how Nigel plans to go about the game.
Still going to be a hard game, this game will prove how good we really are more so then the QPR and Newcastle games.
And I hope you enjoy your time here - at least until the kick-off any way! I'm not sure how many of us will be around here ourselves tomorrow night though.
Hi all, Tough game for both teams really, but I'd say there's more pressure on you guys than us. A point for us would be an excellent result, whilst for yourselves less than 3 points will be seen as a case of 2 (or 3!) points dropped. To me (having seen little of you this season admittedly) you play a lot like we did last season, with a stronger offence than defence. If we can stifle your attacking talents as we have to Arsenal and Man U recently, I think we have a chance of scoring on the break, but probably only the once, twice if we're lucky. I think it'll all come down to how well our defence plays.
Hi guys, I am going to pretend I am still away in the Americas as it seems to have worked well the last few weeks, although even in the most secluded places I managed to watch QPR v Saints . I am ambivalent with this one and I wonder if Adkins and Lambert will have half an eye on the game at Anfield... Ps Norwich are looking good and I cannot see this being 0-0!
An upturn in form has pulled Southampton out of the relegation zone for the first time this season, and a third consecutive win could take them as high as 14th depending on other results: - With seven points from the last possible nine, Southampton are one of the league’s form sides. Only West Brom have had a better trio of results in the last three games. - Adam Lallana has been in superb form for the Saints, making 28 successful crosses at a rate of one every 44 minutes according to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index (the fourth best rate in the whole league). - Lallana was joined by Gaston Ramirez in the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index’s top 10 players for the last round of fixtures – the Uruguayan has been a key player during Rickie Lambert’s goal drought, which has seen the striker score just one goal in eight. - There is little to choose between Lambert and Ramirez in terms of shooting accuracy – Ramirez has got 47 percent of his efforts on target (8/17) compared to the English forward’s 46.4 percent (13/28). Lallana, meanwhile, has a much higher success rate with 68 percent (17/25) of his efforts hitting the target. Unbeaten in six games, Norwich City’s cushion to the relegation zone is growing quickly. Up against a team who’ve experienced a similar upturn in form of late, both will want to prove to their fans that they’re going to be safe in May: - Norwich will be looking to improve their away form against struggling Southampton. Only four of the Canaries’ 15 points have come on the road, and only Aston Villa have scored less goals in away games. - Alexander Tettey was once again the Canaries’ hardest worker in last weekend’s game, covering 6.37 miles. For six consecutive matches, he’s been in his team’s top two hardest workers. - Norwich should prepare for a tough game as Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin is the league’s only man to have committed 30 fouls. - Russell Martin, on the other hand, is statistically the league’s cleanest player. According to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index, he holds the best ratio of successful tackles (17) for each foul (just one). - Martin will return to the Norwich defence on Wednesday night after overcoming a back problem. Turner has won an excellent 81% of tackles attempted, 17 out of 21 in total, while also contributing 14 clearances, 27 interceptions and four blocks. - Sebastian Bassong scored Norwich’s equaliser at the weekend, heading home from Javier Garrido’s free kick. Bassong has used his aerial ability to more effective use at the other end of the pitch so far this season. Bassong has made 28 clearances, the sixth highest in the Premier League.
Unless I've missed something, I'm not sure Russell Martin will make it back into our starting XI tomorrow. I'd guess Garrido-Bennett-Bassong-Whittaker will be the preferred back line based on recent performances, unless he comes in at CB for Bennett.
Really looking forward to this game tomorrow night, nice chilly night expected, under the floodlights of SMS. I think Norwich are performing very similar to Birmingham did (defensively) last year and we trounced them 4-1 at home last year. I expect a win and I think we will get it, a clear 2 goal win for me.
I'm slightly disappointed in the 'flashback' on SaintsPlayer for this game - I was hoping for a re-run of the 4-3 in 2005!
