Saw on twitter that there had been a sighting of the whole team in the gym at a spin class yesterday, good recovery excercise to flush out built up lactic acid. Lambert was with them all and cycling, can't see he'd be doing that if he'd had a tweek. Besides which, Lambert's muscles are made of kevlar, his tendons of carbon fibre and bones of granite. Pretty much the footballing Stig.
Ruddy and Forster are the best two English keepers IMO, better than Hart. Norwich have a very good back up though so it won't make too much difference if he's out, if any. Unless we bombard their goal all game in which case Ruddy would have been important to have playing and will be missed a lot
The treatment he was given on the pitch looked like it was for cramp, so I doubt he'll be ruled out of this game.
This is almost the definition of a game that could go either way. Very hard to call - both teams on a run of form (yours longer and more impressive than ours, in terms of results); both teams looking to pick up scraps to ensure survival; both with young, hungry managers. And Norwich are traditionally a very resilient team, and no one at the moment can assume taking the full complement of points off them, home or away. Key again could be our 12th man home advantage; but one of your 13th man's (Delia Smith) speeches could push you over the line. You are defensively sound, and Chris Hughton proved last year with Birmingham that he can make any team difficult to beat and difficult to score against, especially when they get on a run of form. He would have taken notes when he was at SMS on Sunday, and so is certainly not going to be unprepared. We have a lot of creativity, but you have a lot of means of neutralising them, and are essentially a good example of Southampton's ultimate kryptonite: a team who never, ever gives up, right up until the final second of stoppage time. COYR!
Seems like it'll be a real clash of attack against defence, Norwich have recently defended well but not scored too many, and Southampton have done basically the opposite of that! Keeping clean sheets against United and Arsenal is impressive, but their inability to score against the likes of Reading and Newcastle should cause them concern.
Didn't know that Grant Holt and Rickie Lambert played together at Rochdale! Quote from the article about it on the Saints website - "However, he (Lambert) is expecting to be fit to line up for Saints tomorrow night as his team look to rack up a third successive victory and move further away from the top-flight drop zone." Really hope he does play
i knew it was one of the League 1/ 2 clubs. What a partnership that would be nowadays! - anyone got Roy Hodgson's number?
Rochdale AFC finished a rather uninspiring 14th in league two, not to be confused (as I initially did) with non-league Rochdale FC who won only two matches that season and had an average attendance of 37! Lambert was top scorer in the division with 22 league goals though (Holt got 14, though he was transferred to Nottingham Forest halfway through the season)
The Norfolk Boys are on their way... please log in to view this image Hope you don't mind but I've arranged for us to have an away-day on your board for the match tomorrow! Looking forward to it very much! Come on you yellers!
Do you know, that's exactly what Pulis, Wenger and Ferguson all thought too. You're on the same wavelength as many top bosses
I love the confidence of Norwich's fans for their side that has won ZERO games away from home. Even if Lambert is out I expect us to get at least 2 goals. HAHA
I think it'll be closer than people are expecting... Would love to see Jay Rod grab a couple to get his confidence up. Was unlucky not to have the one at the weekend
