Blimey, hope you're all ok now. I have to say, it was joyous being able to celebrate a goal or penalty award and not worry it's going to be disallowed or overturned after a 5 minute delay (I suspect our second pen would have been!). As for the referee, he wasn't a second tier. He's a FIFA referee who normally refs in the PL.
All good now cheers. Only a minor one thankfully just need to take it easy for a month or so. Ah didn't realise that, poor assumption on my part. Still think he largely had a good game though. And yeah I think it probably would have been overturned too but that's football and hopefully people remember it when we get an offside goal scored against us.
It was a mates birthday so had a few which probably didn't help lol. I don't really drink much these days though beyond 2 pints. 6 is a decent drink now and ruins me haha.
FWIW, I think VAR could still be a good thing if it was operated competently. We desperately need to introduce the semi-automatic offside system that FIFA and UEFA use as that speeds up the offside calls drastically. The line drawing bullshit takes far too long.
I always have said give VAR a 30-45 second time constant. If you can't see it in that time, accept the on field decision. The offsides are a joke and some of then penalties are ridiculous. Yes, I agree, the second would have been overturned in true VAR, but in 30 seconds maybe not.
I don’t think the second would have been overturned, it was soft but the defender definitely barged KWP in the back, he clearly was looking for it but as we’ve seen slow mo makes things look worse anyway so he would’ve still got the decision. VAR would’ve overturned their disallowed goal though so we still would’ve lost if it was involved
Although exactly as predicted the new guideline's were completely forgotten about after a month and we're now largely back to more normal stoppage time and less yellows for kicking ball away. We'd have had 2/3 yellows in first half if it had been in September.
