Signing a player of Ramirez' quality will do wonders for confidence even if he deosn't actually play. Ramirez can play both wings and the central playmaker role, so that's 3 players (and anyone coming off the bench) who will be out to prove that they deserve to be in the team. Games against Man U are games that every player looks forward to, so you can guarantee that whatever happens won't be for want of trying.
Off to match..have to leave early as only one ferry per hour on a Sunday and that totally inconvenient for game. Fingers crossed for a result today.
Little stat here which is I reckon seven players from our last FA Cup squad when we were in League 1, will be involved today - Kelvin (was a sub), Fonte, Seaborne, Schneiderlin, Guly, Lambert, Richardson (if he is on the bench). That's pretty impressive.
the 5-0 whopdown is coming for you lot! Haha only joking expecting a tight game, we will have to be at our best to get a win i think. You looked decent against City.
I reckon a game against United could suit us better than the game against Wigan. United will be more willing to attack, so like in the game against Man City we will have opportunities. I also don't think United have been particularly great so far this season. They conceded two at home to Fulham and lost at Everton in a match where they were comprehensively outplayed.
My prediction Davis Clyne Forte Hoovield Fox JWP Schiederlin Davis Puncheon Lambert Lallana Subs Gazzinga Yoshisda Rodriguez Mayuka Lee
@jordansibley: Great to be hosting Utd in a league game at long last, St Mary's is a hive of activity already. Plan to unveil Ramirez pre-match #SaintsFC
Saints team vs Man Utd: K. Davis, Clyne, Fonte, Hooiveld, Fox, Ward-Prowse, Schneiderlin, S. Davis, Puncheon, Lallana (c), Lambert #saintsfc
Man Utd team: Lindegaard, Rafael, Ferdinand, Vidic (c), Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Cleverley, Kagawa, Welbeck, Van Persie.
Not exactly a team exploding with attacking options; guessing the hope is to hold them in the first half and then play a more expansive game in the second, a la the City match.
I'm guessing this will see Lallana back on the wing, I'm sure lots of people will be pleased to see that. Lee and Mayuka off the bench could hopefully make a big impact on a tiring defence... Interesting to see Fergie drop De Gea against the aerial presence of Lambert. Frankly though, that United team looks the strongest they've put out this season, and their bench is incredible. Could be a difficult afternoon.
