I remember that game. The pain of it still lingers now, a bit.

Going back to the CB thing, our 3 centre backs on Tuesday were 22, 24, and 24, and no goals were conceded. I think that’s something to be very pleased about.

I don't know why people get hung up about clubs like City and Chelsea. Success has nearly always been achieved with money and was even before the PL existed (with a few exceptions).

I remember that too! They didn't score the first until the 72nd minute if I remember rightly though and then scored 4 in 17.

Apparently Swansea are currently 1/1000 to get relegated, which is the same odds as Kanye West becoming the next President of the US.

I agree , but it's getting silly now , my first love is F1 , and teams are struggling to survive , that is the same in football . What good does it do for ANYONE / TEAM if the grass roots cease to exist ?

Yes, to me. I atcgxed how many times he was dragged out of position and how many times he dived in, rather Ham holding a player up. The time when Abraham controlled the ball on his chest, let the ball bonce and turned to volley it, was awful defending. How on earth did he allow a striker that time and space in a box? It is as awful defending. Very basic. Another moment when he chased an over hit pass to the edge of the box (wide) and he just rushed in and let the striker easily skip back into the box and get a cross in. Very early in he tried a step over and lost control of it. Several times he passed the ball forward 10-15 yards straight to an opponent. For me, he was poor. Jack was too. Bednarek was better until he got punched :)

Alex needs to work on his punching.
First rule, aim for the opposition.
Second rule, punch the ****est defender!

Yes, but it was against one of the worst attacks form-wise in the league. Sat watching that game from a coaching/technical perspective, we were very poor at CB. Positionally, decision making, passing, we’re all bad. Credit to them for their effort and bravery though.

Agree with that. Their link up play was poor and they were very snatchy when it came to shooting. A better team would have caused us big problems on that night,

Looking forward to Sunday now. Players will be relaxed, on decent enough form, and playing infront of a home crowd that will be up for it. Still think Man City will win, but I see us giving it a good go.

We need a leader in defence. Stephens and hoedt would have been fine with VVD (spits on floor) or Fonte.

I can’t disagree, but with no experience to speak of between them they were bound to be disorganised. We do need a top class CB in the summer to teach the kids.

I see promise in Hoedt, I have done all season. If the right manager can get hold of him (which maybe we had three managers ago), and we can partner him with a top CB next season, I can see him flourish.

There's a few aspects about his game that he needs to cut out - the way he dived in against Coleman at the weekend to give Baines that FK was painful - but I don't see why that can't happen.

I appreciate it's hardly saying much, but he's by some distance my first CB on the teamsheet.

I didn't rate Fonte (in the Championship, I thought Jos was easily the better of the two), until we partnered him with Lovren, then Toby, then Virgil. Can't say I was surprised to see him perform so badly for West Ham, next to Ogbonna or Collins.

The trouble is until we bring in better quality defenders in summer we are stuck with them :/

How the hell did we almost hold Man City to a draw earlier in the season? Van dick played?
