Match Day Thread Southampton v Manchester City - The Final Chapter - Sunday 13th May 15:00

I like the Redmond who tries and sometimes fails to get past defenders, to the one who hesitates, looks around, sees nothing is on, then passes backwards. He's a confidence player with a lot to offer imo, and it's good to see him regaining a bit of confidence.

I do worry that his confidence may be fragile and the negative response he - imo undeservedly - gets from the stands won't help.

 

Redmond will respond to the right manager. The support he gets there will outweigh any criticism from a noisy minority. I said when Hughes came in that he needed to get the best out of Redmond....the talent is there and he could be an exciting playmaker. And with both Redmond and Tadic firing we'd be good to watch.

I was wondering why OROW was giving up the match thread mantle....after all we haven't lost under him yet! Then realised we had, but it didn't feel like it.

 

But he will always be remembered for taking us over the line.

I think next year we should use him sparingly - perhaps the equivalent of our 'super-sub' for threads that matter

 

Well, next morning & after spending a few mins catching up on this thread, I’m actually a little sad the season is over. Sad that last min goal went in, which was so undeserved but also sad the last few weeks excitement has finished. Weird! MH did a brilliant job getting the players together & playing to their real potential. Well done to all of them. The last couple of weeks have been fantastic & a special mention to the Swans because we couldn’t have done it without them! Hope they bounce straight back.

 

Was sad about Swans too because we had all that wild celebrations at their ground....tough to take. Would have preferred it to be Huddersfield....solely for that reason. However, they lost to Stoke at home, so they didn't deserve it whereas Hudders had some decent results.

 

I really do love that man.

 

I was frustrated when he failed to beat his man yesterday, but only because I wanted the chance created. I didn’t moan at him, because that is what we need him to do. Coaches need to help him achieve it more. If I was his coach, I’d tell him when he’s one v one, to knock it 10 yards behind the defender and go by him that way. He can do that.

Losing possession with a bad 10 yard pass I don’t like. Losing it while trying to take someone on in the last third is part and parcel of what he needs to try.

 

A part of me thinks he should start next season. The forum match thread “rules” haven’t exactly worked a treat this season, have they?

 

Can we share him?

 

Which is what a certain coach who seems to know what he's doing said to him when we played at their ground.

I’m surprised that nobody has mentioned that they scored in the 94th minute when we were playing a minimum of 3 added minutes, in which there were no delays necessitating an additional minute.

Has a quick look around to make sure the ref comment hasn’t attracted the attention of the Tominator He’ll be back.

 

When the 93 minutes came up I shouted at the telly "blow the whistle ref!". He did a few seconds later, for the goal.

 

I'm unbeaten in the League! (0-0 against Leicester)

 

I looked at the clock as it happened. Was still the 93rd minute as the ball came to him but went over as he chipped the keeper. Clearly Ref should have ended the match before it went in.

 

I mentioned that yesterday - good job we didn`t need the point to stay up.
