One great thing amongst all this is that apart from Wet Spam, I've not seen a dull game of football at St Mary's this year, regardless of the results. Vin
He had one dodgy moment when he very nearly gave possession away in a very dangerous area but other than that he was good. I'd hardly say he was exceptional but it was a good game for him.
Cork was great today. Played the kind of passes Vic simply cant. No dig at the big guy he does other stuff well, but I can't see him walking straight back into the team.
Well I thought he took a whack to the shin, so I'm hoping that's his knee and not a massive bump on his leg. I've seen worse wheals and scratches, tbf.
I love the way Poch, when he can, picks the substitutions so that the player going off can milk the gratitude of the crowd, knowing that who he brings on will just slot in seamlessly. I also want to see more of the "Wotsit", he showed no fear of the big guys whatsoever. Steve Davis seemed to want outdo Spider in covering every yard of the pitch, and Cork was my MoM today, and Chambers is learning fast, the future is bright, it is young, red and white.
Ha, nice. I've started listening to selective bits of the match commentary now. In the background you can hear that John Hartson certainly loved Dani's goal.
I agree. That was the first time I've seen "Wotsit" (who I assume is Reed), looks like a great player.
He played well, as did the whole team. But all this talk about Wanyama not getting into the side is complete nonsense. Even supposing that Cork was the best player for the team today, that's one great performance amidst two or three mediocre ones. Wanyama's been the best player or near it just about every game the entire season. I just don't understand the Cork love. Or is it Wanyama hate? Or I dunno, maybe people just have tiny memories and just respond to whoever they think had a good game on a particular day. It's starting to make me dislike Cork, which is unfair as at the very least he's a tremendously hard-working player who always gives his best. But man, it's kind of ridiculous. Osvaldo scored a wonder goal today and we need the offense much more than defense. But somehow it's all about Jack Cork. He's the type of player to me that usually ends up being underrated but on this messageboard it's the opposite.
So proud I the team today. They were all excellent. Chambers was superb, Lovren a tower of strength, Shaw's little turn and burst on the second half was amazing. Cork was fantastic. Loved it all and all of them. And a big well done to Pochettino; he is doing a magnificent job.
I think you're underrating some of the people on the board to be honest! I genuinely think that the majority can see the (differing) qualities of both players. We didn't miss Big Vic today, and I'm a huge fan of his.
Frankly, we are lucky to have Corkie to replace an injured Victor and, even luckier, that his lack of match practice didn't hold him back.
