Wouldn't be surprised if the proper ropey team we put out tonight loses.

 

We have drew eight games already this season turning three of them to wins, that is six points better off at this stage.

 

Get the job done tonight and then on to Sunday.

Of course it’s unlikely but you just never know, we’ve been in this position on the last day against them twice already in recent years so maybe law of averages says they **** this one!!

If we can bang one in inside 5 minutes it’ll make noises round the Etihad for sure, and Coutinho loves a goal against them

my thoughts:

a) Southampton last home game. I hear alot about beaches etc but no team wants a downer on the last home game so they will raise game.

b) Southampton last 6 results. Brentford A 0-3. Palace H 1-2. Brighton A 2-2. Burnley A 0-2 Arsenal H 1-0. Chelsea H 0-6. 1-1-4. They beat arsenal and drew with brighton.

c) Its on TV. Players still get a spine stiffening when they are on tv and they know people will be asking them how gaping was that for you...

d) are they really on the beach? do they care? they have nothing on the line here but they are under scrutiny

I think we should just get it won. get them into a mode of having "given up" as much as possible as early as possible. we didn't go do that v newcastle and it was a 90mins battle.

Score 2 imo and they stop. they will be happy for us to stop there too.
