Harrison read would not change anything let's ne honest. Where even is he these days ...?
The gallows humour today is the only thing keeping me sane.
Highly rated on loan at Fulham. Got MOTM the other week.
Maybe this is the wake up call the board needed.
Nope, same old nonsense from them. Nothing apart from massive investment in January will work. It's all well and good having a director of football, that's not going to change a mediocre manager and a extremely poor side. The only thing that will keep us up is ££££
Just words at the moment.
Will they actually do what they say they will. There in lies the problem.
Weve had this sort of article before. Nothing changed before, so why would it this time?
If it was RH number 2 that was actually the brains behind the success , what is the point in sticking with RH ?
Always liked the kids attitude. Good to hear he's progressing.
Our problem is that we still have a bloated mediocre squad. We have a lot of players on loan who could return at the end of the season.
Before we buy in January we need to make those loans permanent otherwise we could have an even bigger squad of players who don't want to be at Saints and that will most likely cause a bad atmosphere amongst the players.
It's not always contractually possible to sell a player out on loan (if their loanee club doesn't want to sign them).
And in any event, why would this January be any difference? If clubs didn't want to buy them before, or the players didn't want to take pay cuts before, I don't see why that would change. In fact, if anything, it might be even harder to offload them. Why would Celtic make a £10m offer for Fraser, for example, when they might be able to get him for £3m six months later if we're down in the Championship.
Hes not our lord and saviour but at least he can tackle and get in people's faces. I've been JWP's biggest fan, but hes been terrible this season, a yard behind play every time. We just need some bite and pace in there. For me it's just one of the plethora of bizarre decisions to let him leave, when we only have 2.5 CM's.
Regrettably it takes two to make a loan permanent.
2.5 CMs who play every match anyway, leaving us with only Slattery & Smallbone (neither of whom are anywhere near the first team) as our only cover. Great plan that one.
Just ****ing awful planning. Every single saints fan saw it in the summer as well, this isnt even with hindsight.
Not saying too much
Target has always been a better player than Bertrand. Bertrand is a dreadful individualist.
As for the rest some are sticking up for hojbjerg here another individualist who has no cohesion with anyone else when he plays. He’s an individual.
Many of the side are individuals and it’s quite boring to watch such a selfish fragmented team. Oh well. The squad has been ruined partly due to hassenhuttl himself and partly the board. No matter what 0-9 is laughable. Truly an all time low since re promotion and something needs to change. Either he needs to be immediately sacked or a massive rethink. Players like Bertrand, hojbjerg who think they are miles better than they are should be no where near the squad. Back to basics... two full backs that want to defend and battle, two centre backs that want to battle. An anchor man at the base of the midfield. Two engines in front, wide men that want to defend and a centre forward that will run for days. And yes this can be done from the squad and I do believe I would keep the side up as manager. It’s not attacking and defensive football but tactical team football.
I feel players like Targett and Reed got a raw deal here Reed could have been a good player but got ditched for some strange reason. A workaholic lost and regressed massively since leaving when he could have been a quality central midfielder.
I like the idea of Ward prowse on the wing, always have. Will work out a decent team later I’m just venting. Even if you start with 10 men you shouldn’t be losing by more than 5/6 especially at home. I’d have hoped to let in 3 maximum to be honest after the red card.
Bertrand has regressed badly. Targett, however, has never been very good. Villa fans last week, almost to a person, stated that he was having an awful game before scoring...poor touches, regularly finding himself out of position, the usual. Selling Targett wasn't the problem in isolation; the problem is the squad that remains is no better.
will be interesting to see if Ralph drops Bertie after is suspension.... if he does.... it shows just empty words...
A straight red means a two match ban doesn’t it? Will be interesting do we have a decent cover for him though. Surely not Cedric?
Cedric is injured and Ralph doesn't seem keen on Vokins. Probably Danso.
