When Chaplow got sent-off back in August, for a high boot on a Barnsley player, Adkins didn't criticise the referee or say the Barnsley player made a meal of it, or say that Chaplow was in the wrong etc - he said "well it made for an exciting finish didn't it" (we were leading 1-0 at the time, with about 10 mins left). The man is even positive about going down to 10 men!!
Second half actually. We were already a goal up, and they hadn`t managed a shot at goal. Sure teh 2 pens we got were debatable, but then we had 2 stone-wallers that weren`t given - things evened themselve sup.
Fair enough, I thought it was early on but not sure what I was basing that on. I seem to remember the ref had lost control of that game completely and he was just guessing whether to give a penalty or not by the end
Yep. Think he had seven penalty decisions to make in total (Brighton are a dirty team!), and you could argue that he only got one of them right! Still we won the game, so no harm done.
LOL, I noticed that guy didn't come back on that one... still the massive goal difference could be a another dimension of the media creating an alternative to the 'West Ham walking it' senario
As others have stated we were already one up at the time and Brighton were not any threat but even if that was a bit of luck it doesn't make us lucky to be top, that was only one game!
I never said it did, I was just offering a suggestion as to what Tickler was referring to. Seems we'll never know :/
That's more like it Tickler, indeed we shall see, 2-1 saints for me Always had a soft spot for City after seeing saints play at your place 3 times between 2005-08 while working in Lincoln. The KC is one of the best of the new build grounds IMO along with Eastlands COYS
As I accidentally finished the last of a whole bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape last night having already had a couple of glasses of Shiraz with my Ruby Murray I had a vision, Southampton 0 Hull City 6. But I also woke up this morning still fully dressed wondering where the hell I was.
2-0 Saints....Hull fans I see Paul McKenna is suspended for tonights game....is he a big loss for you????
seriously though if we win there, I will not only be gutted for not going as I used to live there but I will actually tattoo the scoreline on my arse
It depends on how we shape up, we now have quite a few players out(Garcia, Ofofinjana, Pusic, Waghorn), so Barmby is a bit limited as to how to switch things around. We expect McKenna will be replaced by a striker and we'll switch from a 4-2-3-1 to a classic 4-4-2, that's probably the most sensible approach with the bodies available.
Accusing the ref of taking a bribe quite rightly got him sent off. The penalty call was wrong, but there is no need for that. Poyet needs to work on his attitude and concentrate on where his team went wrong rather than blaming the referee, because they never got into the game after half time when all 3 goals were scored.
LOL. Kinda reminds me of Only Fools and Horses; the one where Rodney finally convinces Del to seek help over his disturbingly unexplainable Hull City fantasies...???
Presumably we will be going with two natural wingers and an attacking playmaker in a four man midfield! This will make or break us in that Brady & Stewart could have their heads switched on and pin their full backs in or they could not turn up, leaving Dudgeon & Rosenior completely exposed. Will Cairney come in for McKenna though? Mclean for Brady?
