That was absolutely ridiculous. I was watching it thinking "no, surely...", and I'm not sure whether I'm more amazed that he scored from it, or that he had the temerity to try it in the first place.
Kumb is pure comedy. Most WHU fan's still sure they'll be top come the end of the season despite the dire football they play. One fan did BBC predictor and has us down to only get another 4 points all season (And even with that they only get 3 points above us)
Depends on what your aim is. Promotion or the title? If it's the former, then a Reading win is best. If it's the latter, then a West Ham win is best. And I guess if you're not sure, then a draw is best. Great win today. So very happy for Billy (obviously!). Thought Lallana ran the show for the first 20 minutes, and that De Ridder had a decent first half. Adkins got it spot on with the change of formation when Rickie went off. Donny were picking up too many of the loose balls in the first half, but having the extra man in there in the second half allowed us to get control the ball more. Was always confident that once we got one, we'd go on to win.
I'd quite like a draw between them, party because I'd much rather see Reading go up than West Ham, but we still need to win the league.
I'd also like a draw, but if someone had to win, I'd choose Reading. Although it is bound to finish 1-1!
Like Adkins tactics...thought Billy was losing it with Chimbonda, so brought on Barney and made them swap sides. Thinks of everything. Billy said he was booked for high-fiving a young lad in the crowd, then just shrugged.
I just got in from the match. It was never in doubt. Donny kept the ball well at times, but when you have seasoned pros like Chimbonda and Diouf turning round and going backwards with the ball every time they got it, you're not going to do much other than frustrate the opposition. We kept on going and were always one good pass or touch away from that first goal. Chuffed for Billy and loved his interview after when he dissed Chimbonda!
Reading win on the weekend works for me...then, even if West Ham wins midweek and we lose to Blackpool, we're six up (plus goal differential) with six to play.
A couple of points, Lambo was stamped on in the first half, but NA said the problem was a combination of fatigue and a niggle in the pelvic area, as far as Chimbomba was concerned he used just about every dirty professional foul in the book, and as noticed by the Solent commentator, at one point did a Vinnie Jones/Paul Gasgoine special on Billy, which winded him for a short time, Referee saw nothing of that or the later head butt, just hope some of the snappers caught some of it on camera. I also thought De Ridder overstretched himself on one occasion just before half time and was never going to see a full ninety, but Chappers put in a good shift and looked even more natural at the tip of the diamond after Lala went off. Richardson I reckon was a victim of the OS Calendar jinx, he is the March pin up! If you had turned up early enough, Puncheon and Falque were being test monitored on the touchline, were wearing those gismos which give readings of their fitness, it appeared neither passed the test on the day.
I did notice Falque and Puncheon and was wondering what they were doing with those weird things on. I was expecting to see Falque on the bench after seeing him.
There is a lot of tweeting by players about Chimbomba wearing gloves in 23 degrees of heat, well if you planned on grabbing someones crown jewels, a pair of marigolds would be first on the agenda I guess.
Chimbonda and Diouf are nasty human beings. The former also needs a haircut. I was very happy for Sharp today, finally got his chance and took it well, his goals were both good finishes too.!
