The thing I so admire about Garth is his loquaciousness; his incredible ability to note the instantly perceivable with perspicacity that designates the point of departure while holding onto an admirable lucidity. Run this through Google Translate and it comes out as "Garth Crooks talks crap, and certainly never uses one word where 6 will do."
Having just watched MOTD on iplayer I am apoplectic at the two non decisions by one of our Euro 2016 referees. I find it difficult to understand how a penalty was not given (along with the red card which would have followed). Not for the hand ball, as this would have been harsh, but because of the way Cahill cleaned Austin out without touching the ball. I cannot see what possible reason can be used - excuses will abound, but no justifiable reason. As for the kick out on Cedric, this was less clear cut for the ref, but the linesman (sorry Assistant referee - Garth!) should have stood his ground as it seemed as though Atkinson was playing on for what he thought was the lino flagging for a foul by Cedric, whereas it was evident that he was actually flagging for a foul the other way - he failed to clearly get this message across to the ref - and given their comms this was unacceptable. Either way, both these decisions cost us big time. Love Ron for his even tempered response, I can think of many managers who would not have been so forgiving! Unfortunately, with Kevin 'Friend' at the Vitality tonight I can see us suffering a similar fate again.
Bit late to the...errr...party. We could so easily have won that 1-0. Refereeing mistakes and two lapses in concentration from us have ultimately cost us. I could potentially understand Ron bringing on Pelle so that under pressure we can hoof the ball up the pitch and Pelle can win it, and keep hold of it to relieve the pressure. But how often does Pelle do that these days? It had to be Mane for Long. Nevermind. Hopefully Long isn't out for too long!! Annoying lack of communication with the linesman and ref. But moving on, surely there should be some retrospective action on the kick out on Cedric!? You can't do that!
