I really can't agree with this. For 94 minutes we kept them at arms length and restricted them to taking pot shots from outside the box. The only two saves Fraser made (and in all honesty he should have made 4 saves), your Auntie, with or without knackers, would have saved. For all the pretty and precise passing, around our box, we defended very well without there being many moments when you thought "They should have scored then". The Costa volley over the bar, was the only time in the game, that I can recall, when we were defending whilst facing our own goal, and looking in trouble. Although not as pleasing to the eye as watching a fluent attacking performance, defending to a high standard is equally as pleasing, especially when restricting a team full of so many talented individuals to hitting hopeful shots from long range. I think this was Ron's game plan, in all honesty, because even when we were more dominant in the first half, we didn't commit too many players in support of Austin and Long, which negated some good attacking positions that Cedric took up. We didn't deserve to lose. We lost because of errors by the officials and FF, IMO.
Well, to be fair on Fraser, he was half expecting Hazard to get in and nick that one, so he waited and waited, until it was too late - seen that by a number of keepers over the years - just one of those things that happens, sadly. As for officials - well I've said my piece. We should have had a penalty, their equaliser shouldn't have been allowed as it was our free kick on the edge of their area .......... If we'd had those go in our favour, we could have won by 3 clear goals. Cheatski were very pretty passing the ball around, but never really looked dangerous until they got our midfield 3 booked and we then backed off them and gave them too much room. We defended well enough and were undone by a scandalous decision (the ball wasn't out, by the way, so our defence shouldn't have stopped) and then they got their tails up and we were backpedalling. I would have been happy with a point, to be honest - Cheatski ARE a good team - look at the players they have (I would have been happier if Oscar had stayed on the bench to be honest and their left-back should have played 90 minutes ) and we gave them too much respect after they scored. That's the way it goes - it's a funny old game - lets move on to the next 2 games and hope we can get maximum points from those!
I still maintain that Long was (well) offside in the build up to his goal, so the officiating didn't all go against us.
What are you on about? Of course you can post your views. I'm simply pointing out that this being a message board there are different conversations going on at the same time which leads to confusion. You responded to one of my posts that was addressed to someone else. So it is not that I am twisting your words. What you view as me "changing your words" is simply me trying to provide the context of my original post and clarify my position There is more than one person in this conversation right now. You're getting all bent out of shape that I appear to be addressing a different topic than you. And you're right. I was. Point noted. Explanation given. Crazy personal offense taken at attempt to straighten out miscommunication..confusing?
The funniest decisions that went our way, were the two corners we got that didn't seem to go anywhere near a Chelsea player before going out of play.
Just for the record, I'm not blaming Pelle, I'm blaming Ronald. I can't believe there was anyone in the ground who would have made that substitution other than him. Its a shame that it wasn't 5 or 10 minutes later as JWP might them have come on. Someone above mentioned that Clasie looked knackered but I thought Romeu did as well in the last 10 minutes. But nonetheless both played really well. Here's a question, how would it have been if we'd had Wanyama (other than he'd probably have been sent off!).
It is funny that you replied to 2 or 3 of my posts correcting my view on things and now it turns out to be a crossed conversation or misunderstanding. I even answered the questions you asked me, but I will agree to just leave it now and call it a misunderstanding. Odd, but fair enough.
The ball came off a Chelsea defender. And the ball and the defender were clearly between Long and the goal as well. Maybe he was technically offside in the very early build up when Forster kicked it but he gained no advantage from it. Or I don't know maybe he did, I hate the whole advantage thing. But I think regardless of interpretation, as a reality that call never gets made.
Exactly my view. Long was injured, so replace him with someone who could at least have the same work rate/hassling the defenders style.
No advantage? He forced Ivanovic to head Forster's goalkick straight to Romeu (who in turn heads it to Baba, who in turn heads it to Long). He's jumping with Ivanovic to try and get on the end of Forster's kick. Given from just how far behind the back line Long has come from, it's an awful call from the linesman.
Yes, this happens all the time between you and I. Poster x: I like apples better than oranges. Me: I disagree. I like oranges better than apples. You: Well let me ask you this: Didn't you say that the last orange you had was awful? Me: Yes, I agree I said that. It was indeed awful. But I still like oranges better than apples. You: I never said anything about apples! Stop twisting my words!
What kind of apples are we talking about here? Granny Smith's are okay, but for me it's a Braeburn all day long.
Oh please. For all of us! Anyway, just back from the family commitment that kept me from the game. To make losing even worse, I had to handle well meaning people saying that I must have been glad to have missed it. The local Police have been very kind since I cooperated by telling them the burial sites of those responsible. My missus was clever enough to say nothing.
If you need cheering up, go and have a gander at the arsenal board. Probably the very definition of meltdown right now.
AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHH! I hate the way you've narrowed this down to two fruits. Couldn't we develop this into a general discussion about citrus fruits? Could we get back to talking about bleedin' football? ISIRTP, do you wind people up in real life or only in this virtual world?
Braeburns are alright with me. As long as it isn't Red Delicious which taste like styrofoam and wax or Honeycrisp which are too sweet.
