This has been a really poor half. Yes, we look confident at the back, but we are pretty clueless with the ball. Desperate for some midfield class and, dear god, a decent striker. Long, as much as I love him, is really poor.
Need an early goal in the second half to force them to come onto us. Cardiff well drilled. We can win this!
Looking ok so far.just gotta break through cardiff somehow, they are defending with everyone behind the ball
How ****e must Gallagher be in training to not get game time over him? If he’s not going to be given a chance, I can’t help but wonder why did we keep him
If it carries on like this it will either drop to us for a scrappy goal in the box or a single counter for them. thought it would be a bit like this when i heard Ralph talking about clean sheets. we really do need to improve on the counter though. We just let them get back every time.
Missed the blue text, should have said St Mary's, not not606. Ralph said we were hot, my definition of hot is slightly warmer than that first half.
Maybe noone else wanted him? Haha. But seriously, no idea. Long can no longer make a five yard pass. He never beats a man. All he does is tackle - then lose it.
One area we have to improve on is our transition from defending to attacking, we are so pedestrian, in the Arsenal game we counter attacked with pace, today we get to the half way line and pause of options. Ralph will sort it out second half.
We have two defensive mid-field players and JWP, I would bring on Slattery or drop Redmond back to mid-field Austin and Long, not much between them.
We need to get Redmond on the ball more. Hes trying to run off the back of them, but they’re too deep for it to work. I’d like to see him drop slightly and get on the ball as much as poss
C'mon now...Valery making that move, someone has to be moving across the defense in the box to present him with a passing option.
Cardiff have done this. Its the game plan. We just don't create chances or score freely. Pleased with our application today. I don't like Cardiff at all, they bring very little to the top flight.
