Davis runs play as well as anyone in the squad when he has a bit of space, and Villa are backing off. Right choice, if we were going to lift a midfielder, IMO.
I wouldn't say he has none, but Davis has more. He is simply more experienced and that is what we need when we're fielding a few players who have come in from the squad.
We've played well but, as often happens, we haven't created that much. Hopefully we can get a goal early in the second half and kick on.
Luke needs to either take on and beat his man or be the man to stay back instead of Wanyama, don't mean to criticise the lad as he is obviously a great player but at the moment he is a dead end in the final third. Bacuna is isolated out there and begging to be beaten but Luke hasn't shown the guile to do so so far, would rather leave Adam or Jay out there to actually take him on.
Win, lose, or draw tonight we learn more and more about why this way of playing will only get us so far given that we naively walked straight into Villa's counter-attack KNOWING that's the way they would be playing..... Questions 1) Why has MP made the only sub he's going to make (looking at the rest of the bench and being realistic) so early? 2) Is anyone else frustrated by the fact that while playing this style of football we dominate the amount of chances each game but rarely create anything clear cut to ever put away, where on the other hand we always find a way of literally giving the opposition a goal for free most games by offering up far clearer cut chances. Shot stats on their own may look good, but the quality of the chances we create against the ones we give up is absolutely woeful. Edit... I stand corrected, a like for like change with Cork for Wanyama. That'll change the game!
Right come on boys. Hopefully Mauricio will have put a rocket up them a bit at half time. Get one and the rest will come.
Agreed, I'd like to have one of the attackers playing out there with him. Bacuna's quick enough to deal with one player, but he isn't a great defender...getting a second player out there should give us opportunities to get the ball into dangerous places. Ron Vlaar listened! He ****ed off!
Actually, I'd like to see a bit more zip AND control. The final ball is not there at the moment. Nobody is seeing the decisive run being made before it's too late and we are playing far too much in front of Aston Villa. Actually, if we don't become more incisive I don't see us scoring. There. You didn't expect negativity from me did you..? Jack Cork on. Hurray..!
The first decent ball into the box and the first time we commit players in there and we score, excellent.
