    Great result in difficult conditions. First time for this team to play at St Mary's they started nervously but finished very confident. Goal scoters were:
    1. Jake Sinclair assist Sam McQueen
    2. Joe Curtis correction Calum Chambers assist Jake Sinclair
    3. Jordan Turnbull assist Sam McQueen
    4. Sam McQueen assist Calum Chambers
    HT
    5. Jake Sinclair assist by Sam McQueen pressurising Centre half
    6. Joe Curtis assist Jake Sinclair
    7. James Ward Prowse assist Jake Sinclair

    Could have been more. I was told that there were 4 or 5 of last year's finalists or 2nd year scholars playing for Sheff Utd.

    Remember the league team is often not the best 11 so Sheff Utd position in league is not that indicative of the quality of this team. The Sheff Utd keeper plays for England. Saints' Ward Prowse, Shaw, Moore, Stephens and McQueen are often playing U21 despite being U16/U17s. Wait till next year when 7 of the starting 11 will be second year scholars.

    You've got to think; those teams that played each other tonight are going to be very similar and playing each other again in maybe 4-7 years time, FOR REAL!

    The Mail on Sunday on November 13th (?) had a large 1 and half page spread on our academy. Read great with huge enthusiasm from our coaches about the present squad..likened them to Beckham/Scholes generation at ManU. Talked about the facilities and plans for the future.

    Bummer we lost to Portmouth academy even though we didn't play our main squad. Even a Pompey fan said to me that he didn't know Pompey were still running an academy.
