Scotland is a cheap place to shop, and they are the only team with anyone you'd want to buy, simple is that.
http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...Victor-Wanyama-Gary-Hooper-and-Fraser-Forster Seems as though CaughtOffside have been pinching a story...
I thought we chased Hooper because NA had previous with him & he thought he'd make a good addition. So, shopping in Scotland will make many people wonder.......just who holds the shopping list? I was looking forward to MP picking up a couple competitively priced gems, but I guess the transfer policy hasn't changed.
MP will obviously have input, but it'll be mainly him, Cortese and Les Reed, plus the chief scout who will decide.
Well we were after a striker at the time, Hooper was a good candidate and it was probably seen as helpful that he knew Adkins. In the end we got Sharp instead though. I imagine Adkins might have had some input in Hooper's position at the top of the list but equally the rest of the board may have come to that conclusion without Adkins' input. I can't really see us going back for him now that we have Rodriguez. Same applies to those who think because Pochettino knows Spain we will do a Swansea and go shopping there. We have scouts all around Europe and Pochettino's input, although important, is only part of the story. He might be useful in attracting players who know him from the Spanish league, but who's to say we wouldn't be looking there anyway?
Mauricio looked puzzled when he was asked if he would help attract players from Spain. He didn't see why...must be on the modest side.
I don't think Hooper would be a step up (I think I'd even prefer Sharp). However, Davis has proved to be a good signing from Rangers so I guess there are one or two decent players up there.
Saints up the ante in chase for £10m Wanyama: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...elder-Victor-Wanyama-watched-Southampton.html
I'm just waiting for the Celtic fans to swamp our board saying that there's no way Wanyama would ever join a little club like Southampton.
Seems like the fail have picked up the same story, at least they've managed to pick a single player though! This has a long way to go before I believe it will happen, but I'd be more than satisfied if we signed Wanyama.
Doubt very much that we'll get Wanyama with half of Europe in pursuit, but ye gods what a central midfield partnership he and Schneiderlin would be.
Would take all these! Add to the two or three Spanish/Italian stars and I will be delighted to say the least
I have a mate who supports Celtic and he pretty much worships the ground Wanyama walks on, think its very unlikely he comes here unless we massively over pay for him (therefore making us the only offer Celtic accept). As soon as the asking price is known a whole host of clubs will be in for him. Forster I would like, but can't see us going for a keeper in the summer with Boruc staying and I'm very meh about Hooper. As others have said from what I've seen of him he plays very similarly to Sharp and I would prefer a striker with a more rounded game. There is one other player from Celtic my friend doesn't shut up about and that is Charlie Mulgrew, apparently he is very good and is a defender, which should be our main priority in the summer I think
