Whilst I do agree everyone here about the article being a load of rubbish, and certainly a case of lazy journalism, I do think that Maynard will leave in January and that it will be for a cut-price deal. Bristol City had their chance to get 4 or 5 million for him in August, and refused to budge. Absoloute madness considering he only had 12 months left on his contract - not to mention that they could really have used those funds to strengthen their very apparently weak team. And now I think they will pay the consequences by getting a lot less for him in January. (Something tells me that between now and Jan, he wont be signing a new contract with them!)
Maynard - £500k max in January. Take it or leave it! Sharp - needs to accept our wage structure or do one Rod - would like him nut he wants to stay up in the frozen north What about our overseas scouting - any good Dutch, German or Scandinavian strikers looking for an opportunity? Be cheaper and probably as good
I hope that it remains just a rumour, and that we never sign him. Nothing to do with his ability, not in the slightest, but because I'd find it seriously weird supporting and cheering on a guy who I used to sit next to, and talk to, and be in the same team as during PE. For me to be putting him up there with the likes of Lallana and Lambert and Fonte, and treating him how I treat them, would just be well, yeah, weird.
Sod maynard.. just heard Jordan rhodes has scored his 16th goal of the season today!! GET HIM ON THE BUS!
I'd love sign Rhodes (I was a massive fan of his last season, even before this wonder run of goals - never ever understood why Clark constantly picked that useless Afobe ahead of him), but I don't think it will happen. Huddersfield are on the up, so they have decent prospects to offer Rhodes and it would require a sizeable-ish sum for them to sell. So the complete opposite to Maynard and City's position.
