I'd be disappointed to see him go, but £8M would ease the pain.

Problem with Fletcher is, the teams he plays for keep getting relegated - Burnley, Wolves, now Sunderland - or West Ham ?

If he gets rid of Sunderland and West Ham in one season. Arise Sir Steven...

Yep they will be tempted to rush him back but it will be risky after such a long lay off.

In what way? Do you think we could replace him for that?

The idea of replacing him with the proceeds of any sale is a bit of a red herring. The alternative is letting him go, at some stage, for nothing. So what do we replace him with then? Getting £8m for him would be money we wouldn't have had otherwise, and makes no difference to the fact we'll have to replace him.

Not that I'm advocating selling him, just saying that if value in replacing him is your primary concern, then logically we should take whatever we can get for him.

Lambo mustn't go, there is a small chance we may be awarded a Penalty some when in the future and we need him to be there to take it. Not going to hold my breath though.

Oddly, it's looking increasingly likely that if that does happen he won't be on the pitch to take it!

There's no chance of Ricky being sold. He's still one of our best players and a proven goal scorer.

Journalists don't do enough research...they report that we are blessed with striking options and Rickie is concerned he isn't getting game time...is this the same player who is one of three strikers at the club who plays for at least a large part of every game. Too important for us to lose.

For all those saying we could replace him with £8m, I think we're missing the point. RL now bleeds red and white (like we do). Let me ask those who would see him go this:

Tell me your exact emotion at the moment Rickie scored that goal against Scotland (Scottish fans tell me too!). THAT is why he should be with us until he retires....

    I was close!

The mans a legend, I will be f**king gutted when he retires. He will still be at saints until then, and beyond thank you very much.

Although there's no chance of us getting a penalty for him to take again after the Clattenburg incident!

There's an artical in the echo saying there is a clause in his contract that says he can stay till he retires if he plays in half the games
