My point for mentioning the alleged meeting, was that would imply that NC had agreed the transfer of Rickie. If that was the case, then we must have had someone lined up, surely.
Or Nicola saying we have accepted the bid but we would like you to stay. More a case of doing exactly what others above said we should do in terms of accepting bids and trusting our players to be loyal.
Everyone looked happy in training, notably Rickie. But I suppose players have always been pragmatic...managers, owners and other players come and go.
Sam Allardyce admits that West Ham did try to sign Rickie Lambert last month: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/west-ham-transfer-news-sam-3171525?
I've never understood it when people say that Lambert scores different types of goals. Most of his goals nowadays come from the spot, with some free kicks and the odd header. In our League One promotion season, he scored very few goals with his feet from open play. Not criticising Lambert, but I think that his finishing hasn't been brilliant since the Championship, or maybe even under Pardew, but makes up for it by being good in the air and being excellent at penalties.
He'd be a good signing for them it's fair to say. I can see why Allardyce admires him. He's not exactly been clinical recently but it certainly is true to say he scores all kinds of goals. He's scored from all ranges and all situations; penalties, free-kicks, headers... few others have his repertoire, though they may be more effective.
