I think, deep down, your heart has known all along where that vote should be cast.

If my current posting style isn't good enough to at least earn me second place, I think I'll have to shake it up if I want to win next year. I might have to dumb down my humour a little and go all Michael McIntyre on your asses. One-liners and puns - is that what you want?!

How do I retract my vote?

I'm going to set up 11 new accounts and vote for Joe.

Better keep a low profile or this could be Devon Loch all over again.

To be fair I think Tom deserves DTLW's vote for going to the Pompey match. A vote for sportsmanlike conduct if you will.

I only went away for a few days. We set off to spend the day in Winchester but the very lovely Mrs Godders:emoticon-0115-inlov left the Win at the beginning of Winchester off when programming the Sat Nav that she had bought in the Oxfam shop in Portswood and we ended up in Chester where we spent the night. Lovely place Chester and on our way home we stopped by in Ludlow where I got chatting to a charming woman in the Tourist Information Office about A E Houseman whose poetry I have always enjoyed and whose grave I wanted to visit. This very nice lady said that Ludlow liked to celebrate their association with Houseman much to the disapproval of other towns to which he had a greater affiliation. I said it reminded me of the big thing Portsmouth made of Dickens despite the fact that he was only there a short while and his family left the city in disgrace. I told her that Dickens had specifically requested that his association with Portsmouth be kept quiet. At this the very nice lady said, and I must add totally unprompted by me, "If I came from Portsmouth I think I would want to keep quiet about it too."

Anyway I am back home now and I must say I was touched by everyone's (maybe I should change that to a few people's) concern.

As for Beddytare's suggestion that I might be sulking because one or two people were rude to me I am somewhat surprised. He of all people should now just how thick skinned I am. If I sulked every time someone was rude to me my life would be one permanent sulk

One of my earliest memories is from Chester, and hiring one of those little motorboats that you can cruise up the river on with my Dad, then later that day we went to my first ever football match at Prenton Park. Christ, I'm almost welling up, I do miss the Old Man!

Tbf, he enjoyed it. And who can blame him, must be good seeing Hampshire's finest football team for a change!

I want you as a pet Lapras, so I could pat you on the head when you run around me in the garden, panting with your tongue out.

To be frank, Chester's beauty is skin deep. It's a run down, drug ridden town now.
