I wouldn't want to manage (or have a manager) on the last year of the contract and deal with the distraction all year. I think MP will either leave in the summer or sign a modest extension. The modest extension seems much more likely to me.
Hmn. That's just over 9/4 against him going. The pessimist in me says 9/4 shots win all the time. Don't like those odds.
I really want Poch to sign a new deal and the longer the better, but here's the thing; Firstly, I have a great deal of trust now in the club's owner and management. If MP were to go, then there would be no panic and we would get a good quality replacement, because managing Saints must be really attractive prospect ATM. Compared with many of the other management jobs in EPL, we look ambitious, stable and well-funded, without a megalomaniac at the helm. Secondly, I remember what happened with Nigel. What if we continue to improve the team through the Academy and buying in good players but we don't progress? The board will most likely move again. The direction of travel is the essential thing.
