Just watched the “highlights” back …their goals get worse every time you see them. Ramsay, Gillesphey & Docherty were all particularly culpable - blowing out of their arses, out of position, and failing to track back.

We will get battered at Stoke if we defend like that again.

Test cricket has been shot for years imo, always thought 20/20 was the end, it will only get worse from here...

Flat after the 5 n 1 tonking, hopefully someone spends up in the future

Apologies - I replied to the last post from @FormerlyOzAddick with a cricket related rant, then realised it was in the wrong thread.
My reply is now posted in the Ashes thread.

Were you not entertained?

English cricket has now been geared totally towards crass thrill-a-minute 20-20 philosophy.
Which = throw your wicket away trying stupid showbiz shots.
Bazball, I think they call it.
And the twits running England have already said they won't abandon it. Even if that means five two-day tonkings.
Hopefully said twits will be replaced once this is all over.

I expect most younger viewers (what there was of them) were bored after ten minutes anyway because (yawn) both teams were wearing white rather than fluorescent green, blue, pink or orange.
I wonder how long it will take for the so-called Barny Army to turn on the crap they're being expected to support.

It was certainly entertaining. Who couldn’t be entertained by Travis Head’s brilliant century. T20 and the hundred started because domestic Cricket in the County championship was dying. Have you seen the attendances for County Championship games? Whether you like it or not we live in an instant gratification Society. I think the format of Test cricket will change from five days to 3/4. How many of England’s last 20 Tests lasted five days?
Personally I don’t want to see batsmen blocking for ball after ball and ending 90 overs with a total of 150 runs. Nor do I want to see the England Test batsman play extravagant shots every ball. Take Travis Head he kept out the good balls and scored off the bad ones. We currently have the talent but not the mindset.
