Nah it's okay, thanks. I enjoy (*cough*) being a masochist. Plus, my only connection to Southampton is that I went there once, I think. Possibly twice, but I can't remember if the ship left from Portsmouth or Southampton. Unless you include the Rose Bowl.
Well good luck at Pompey then. Honestly, I hope Pompey do well. Of course, as you'd expect, just not as well as we do.
Your not ****...your the dark horses of this league with a manager who will always be respected by the fans of SFC.....you black and amber bastard!!!
Ok, I've just done the research here to find exactly when these runs started. And I'm really quite amazed for one of them. Firstly, the stat concerning us winning games when we've been winning at HT: HT FT Boro 2-0 3-0 West Ham 1-0 1-0 Watford 1-0 4-0 Birmingham 3-0 4-1 Millwall 1-0 1-0 Ipswich 3-0 5-2 Barnsley 1-0 1-0 Leeds 2-0 3-1 Walsall 2-1 3-1 Plymouth 1-0 3-1 Brentford 2-0 3-0 L Orient 1-0 2-0 Charlton 1-0 2-0 Yeovil 1-0 3-0 Colchester 1-0 2-0 Swindon 1-0 4-1 Carlisle 1-0 1-0 Oldham 2-0 6-0 Exeter 1-0 4-0 Huddersfield 2-1 4-1 P'boro 1-0 4-1 Dag & Red 2-0 4-0 Tranmere 1-0 2-0 Bournemouth 1-0 2-0 Bristol Rovers 2-0 4-0 Bristol Rovers 2-1 5-1 Charlton 1-0 1-0 Hartlepool 2-1 3-2 Leeds 1-0 1-0 Huddersfield 3-0 5-0 Walsall 3-0 5-1 Norwich 1-0 2-0 Exeter 1-0 1-1 So that is 32 league games (and counting), and started way back on Saturday 20th February 2010 against Norwich. Secondly, the initial stat put up by CBK concerning not losing games which we have taken the lead in....But by my reckoning, it is a whole lot more than 34! Took-Lead FT [Reason why not included above] Boro 1-0 3-0 West Ham 1-0 1-0 Watford 1-0 4-0 Birmingham 1-0 4-1 Forest 2-1 3-2 [was 2-2 at HT] Millwall 1-0 1-0 Ipswich 1-0 5-2 Barnsley 1-0 1-0 Leeds 1-0 3-1 Walsall 1-0 3-1 Plymouth 1-0 3-1 Brentford 1-0 3-0 Hartlepool 1-0 2-0 [was 0-0 at HT] Brighton 2-1 2-1 [was 0-1 at HT] Bristol Rovers 1-0 1-0 [was 0-0 at HT] L Orient 1-0 2-0 Charlton 1-0 2-0 MK Dons 3-2 3-2 [was 0-1 at HT] Charlton 1-0 1-1 [was 0-0 at HT & we didn't win] Sheff Wed 1-0 2-0 [was 0-0 at HT] Bournemouth 2-1 3-1 [was 1-1 at HT] Yeovil 1-0 3-0 Colchester 1-0 2-0 Swindon 1-0 4-1 Carlisle 1-0 1-0 P'boro 1-0 4-4 [was 2-2 at HT & we didn't win] Exeter 2-1 2-1 [was 0-1 at HT] Oldham 1-0 6-0 Dag & Red 1-0 3-1 [was 0-0 at HT] Exeter 1-0 4-0 Huddersfield 2-1 4-1 P'boro 1-0 4-1 Dag & Red 1-0 4-0 Notts County 2-1 3-1 [was 0-1 at HT] Oldham 2-1 2-1 [was 1-1 at HT] Tranmere 1-0 2-0 Bournemouth 1-0 2-0 Yeovil 1-0 1-1 [was 0-0 at HT & we didn't win] Sheff Wed 1-0 1-0 [was 0-0 at HT] Bristol Rovers 1-0 4-0 L Orient 1-0 1-1 [was 1-1 at HT & we didn't win] Southend 2-1 3-1 [was 0-0 at HT] Carlisle 1-0 3-2 [was 1-1 at HT] Yeovil 1-0 1-0 [was 0-0 at HT] Bristol Rovers 2-1 5-1 Charlton 1-0 1-0 L Orient 2-1 2-1 [was 1-1 at HT] Hartlepool 2-1 3-2 MK Dons 1-0 3-0 [was 0-0 at HT] Leeds 1-0 1-0 Huddersfield 1-0 5-0 Walsall 2-1 5-1 Norwich 1-0 2-0 Exeter 1-0 1-1 [we didn't win] Stockport 1-0 2-0 Brentford 1-0 1-1 Millwall 1-0 1-1 Exeter 1-0 3-1 Tranmere 1-0 3-0 Walsall 1-0 3-1 Wycombe 1-0 1-0 Hartlepool 2-1 3-1 MK Dons 2-1 3-1 Oldham 1-0 3-1 Southend 1-0 3-1 Gillingham 1-0 4-1 Bristol Rovers 1-0 2-3 So that is 66 league games (and counting) where we have taken the lead at some point during the game, and come away with at least a point, starting way way back against Gillingham on Saturday 3rd October 2009.
I'm happy to be proved wrong of course - Boro clearly got this 34 from somewhere, so they may well be correct. However, like I say, I think it's a whole lot more.
When they say 'took the lead' they mean 'scored first', as in the last 34 times we've gone 1-0 up, we've won.
Possibly, but it still wouldn't add up. Looking at my list above, I count that in 51 of those 66 games we have gone 1-0 up (so only 15 of them have we taken the lead at 2-1 or 3-2). That's still a whole lot more than 34.
True, but if I am right in saying that it's 66 matches that we've taken the lead in and not lost, going back over 24 months now, then I'd prefer it if it isn't written as 34 matches by opposition teams. Just look at Chelsea, one of the very best sides in the world and they twice took the lead at home just yesterday - but lost.
I've left cup games out of the equation, but Boro might not have done - so you quite possibly have the answer.
I only skim-read this topic so didn't see your workings out...I agree that in the League it is Bristol Rovers at home.
Actually, it still doesn't quite fit (though almost does). In my above list, Man Utd would fall between the 6-0 win over Oldham and the 2-1 win over Exeter. Starting with that Exeter win, I count 27 games up to and including Boro yesterday. Add to that the Carling Cup wins over Preston, Torquay and Swindon this season, and we still only have 30 games.
Is the '34' counting all competitive games played, during which time we have not lost in any game where we have opened the scoring?
