Hopefully there's nothing else underlying and he can get back playing as soon as possible.

  2. Dan continues to show signs of steady improvement and Doctors are hopeful he will be discharged within the next few days.

    Good news indeed.

When he gets back, hopefully soon, maybe he can inherit David Connolly's song seeing DC hates it

All best wishes to Dan. People never realise how fragile we all are. Hopefully he'll be out of hospital soon, but, with personal experience with my son, you remain under observation for a while after a skull fracture. He won't be heading balls any time soon, but his full recovery is all that matters. Hope he's back at SMS soon, even if just cheering the lads on.

yeah they'll want to keep an eye on his brain, make sure there's no swelling.

Good news, if they are talking about letting him go home this week then he must be doing very well and the injuries can't be that bad.

Could have been a case of the Echo and Police going over the top with their initial report.

The reports probably weren't exagerated. There is blood everywhere initially and injury can't be assessed until swelling gone down and patient conscious. He hasn't got an office job so they won't want him rushing back to a physical sport. No point in rushing this. Just glad we've got some good news.

There is a standard procedure with any bang on the head. If there is no obvious fracture to the skull on X-ray they have to check for subarachnoid haemorrhage, which requires a CT scan, and then, if that's negative, a xanthochromia test on the cerebrospinal fluid. This all usually takes until about 12 hours after the initial injury before you can rule out SAH. So the initial cautious/pessimistic "potentially life-threatening" line is really because they didn't honestly know.

Hospitals let people go as soon as it's medically safe to do so. I'd expect him to be out for quite a while still.

Cause for optimism though as you say.

Heard on Radio Solent that he might be sent home this week, sounds more positive.

Perhaps time for the mods to change the title of this thread to simply... "Dan Seaborne latest condition" ?

Just to Bump this thread up (No pun intended)

All good signs and it will be nice if he's able to make an appearance on Saturday and watch the game.

I should go back and ask for a repeat scan as I have a feeling they confused your results with those of Dyslexic Saint.

Does he qualify for the job as Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz? Ray Bolger died in 1987!
