    Children read slowly because they read every word. Adults scan rather than read every word. We see what we think we see, rather than what we see. If you seriously want to check every word (which you probably don't) you should read backwards....spelling mistakes are spotted easier then.

    I find it quite alarming when I realise how many words are just missing when I read the script prior to posting. I think my brain worries that my fingers aren't keeping up and takes a shortcut now and then.

    Yes, I'm well aware that adults scan, but my problem persists when I slow down to read every word as well. :)

    Reading backwards might be the solution. I'll try that. Doesn't work when one misses out whole words though.

    I saw a palace fan exploding with rage that their chairman was on holiday at the moment. Rather more urgent for them, mind.
