I sort of get it, if Cortese agreed with K.Liebherr to fund another season. But Ben Smith says his notice has been in for months. It might have been constant brinkmanship or possibly the writing has been on the wall for all this time. Well...dunno, my brain hurts.

Likely. Be curious who she'll install as the primary executive...cannot imagine that she's going to be making football decisions.

Time to hit up your contacts in Europe, Nicola; surely there's a wealthy German out there who wants a vanity project, has the good sense (being German) not to want to interfere, and needs a steady hand as chairman.

A chairman who chooses players to buy rather than the manager? Never! :p

Suppose that it depends who the club is likely going to be sold to. If it's the Chinese billionaire mooted by hotbovril earlier, Cortese would almost assuredly have been pushed out in any instance.

Needs a little while to get the necessary investors arranged to buy the club. Doesn't want to see it go to someone else.

She provides the money. The manager and the staff who actually know about football will be deciding who to sign.

On Betfair, Pochettino is 11/10 to be the next manager to leave, just behind Hughton at 20/21.

She would have to take over as chairman/chairperson, wouldn't she? I don't think it's that big a deal.

It's a position at the club that suddenly became vacant with no one to fill it. So it really only makes sense that she become chairperson until they can figure out the new structure. Whether she stays the chairperson with the same duties as NC, or hires a new chairperson, or chairperson becomes a title only will be determined later.

I think the only think which stops me from being too concerned is the fact that nobody in this whole tale is simply out to make a fast buck. If the worst happens, the club has been built the right way and with sound finance. One can only hope that the owner finds the right person to buy the club. Premier league experience would suggest that it's much easier to find the wrong person.

I can't see Reed staying either. He was appointed by Nicola.

So in theory we could actually be going from being 'one of the richest clubs' in British football (based on owner's wealth) to becoming even richer?
