According to reporters there, Cortese is at St Mary's. Not exactly edge of your seat stuff: "chairman of club at their stadium".

He's been there since this morning, no story. Sibley was there this morning and still is too.

"If it aint broke, don't fix it. Cortese is a man of his word and will follow this through."

David Salas is at the training ground, Jesus Perez and Toni Jimenez have just arrived at Staplewood in regular clothes. Pochettino milling about too.

Cortese's right hand man is also present.

Not sure this is worth much, but there you go.

Odd to think, but there are very few chairman whose (potential) departure would cause such grief amongst the fanbase as much as Cortese.

Although things sound very bleak, there's still no solid evidence yet for the story yet and, for all we know, this might just be newspaper talk. The loss of Cortese or the Liebherrs would be a real blow, as would the loss of Poch. I just hope that if we do get someone new in they sees us as a diamond to be honed, not an asset to be stripped. Thankfully, I think we've got enough points in the bank to be safe for this season, and the boys can do their bit by winning at the weekend, as Sunderland away is an eminently winnable fixture. With the likelihhod of Premiership football next season, an established and young squad and a superstar factory down the road, anyone coming into SFC is starting in a strong position.

On a football-related topic: If the catalyst for this present crisis was the £24m sale of Luke Shaw to Man City (and please bear in mind that was the merest wisp of a rumour loosely mentioned about twelve pages back in this thread), do you think that Targett can fill in for him?

I predict that we will be sold soon and then the new owners will appoint an ambitious, young, Swiss/Italian with a brief history of football club management and a strong financial CV. This may be difficult for some of us to stomach as what the hell would a banker know about running a football club, but I suggest we give him a chance... stranger things have happened.

My prediction? At some point in the future we'll know what's going on.

It'll be one of: a major change, a minor change or no change.

My other prediction (for what it's worth) is that this is a journalist adding two and two together to get 2 to the power of 267,709. Then again , on the morning of NA's departure last year I was loudly telling anyone who would listen that the rumours were just journalists making stuff up. So what do I know? Or any of us? About anything.

So he may be, but only to expound that the Benelli Super Black Eagle II is the best gun for Duck Shooting I suspect.
