Do we actually know who owns the Football Club? The OS says ownership of the shareholding is still in probate, could it be that NC has stayed on to caretake until the legal niceties are complete and this may be immenent allowing the Club to be offered to the highest bidder, any new Consortium would want their own people in to manage and run the Club, that may not necessarily be NC or Poch? Just a thought.

I wonder if it's not a case of having identified a transfer target that's become available this month, and this scenario -

"Hi Katty-baby, it's the Don here. You know that £20m you promised when I had a huff last year? Well I need some of it to buy a mad Argentinian called Ever."

"But Nicky, you already spent 30m on a mad Italian and a giant Kenyan."

"Yes I know, but you promised me 50 in total. You promised, you promised."

"No sorry, not this time dear. We're fresh out of love for this football thing that daddy so liked. You can't"

"But you said I could, remember?"

    "Not gonna happen"

"Right. That's it. I'm going, and I'm taking ALL my toys with me. Plus I'll make damn sure the works knows what a meanie you are."

Whether we believe it as him leaving, or we see it as another little brinksmanship game by him, there's reason to be worried. Either he's off, or more likely, he's just playing a very dangerous game.

Some of us are busy Nicola, we don't need this unnecessarily stress. Once it's sorted, leak away to the press. I'll be back on here after......

Well, I mean I don't believe he will leave. Just all seems very familiar.

Even if the Liebherrs want to sell, Cortese has said before he would be able to find a suitable buyer, so why would he leave in that instance?

Calm down and stop all this gloom and doom now for goodness sake.

Things change we must just wait and see how much truth there is in all of this nonsense.

Personally I don't think Nicola wants to give up on his baby having come this far.

If he does give up then remember change can be for the better.

I recall on the old 606 people saying we had to put up with Lowe because going into administration was unthinkable and certain doom for the club and it proved to be anything but.

Change happens. It is how things improve.

They have probably figured out that the money it would take to get into Europe and therefore increase the value of the club any further is not worth the risk. He is a businessman remember. He took us on at league 1 and we are now in that 6-8th place zone where silly money is required to proceed further. In that case what's left to stay in for?

That being said, we are a strong mid sized club with fantastic training and youth setup and a decent sized expandable stadium. Who's to say we don't get some rich Arab or Russian whose money is no object?

Assuming there's any truth in these rumours, it wouldnt necessarily end badly

Would be naive in the extreme to think he gives a flying one...

Perhaps Nicola promised European football in return for the extra funds...being in Europe could increase our selling price if that is the Leihberrs intention. As I said above, the problem is that I bought into Nicola's dream...I want to be special not ordinary.

Being loved is the cherry on the cake...not the reason for NC's actions.

Neither SSN nor the BBC have quoted a single source nor provided any evidence for their "story". And the quote from Pochettino is a year old.

I'm filing this under "bullshit" until evidence shows otherwise.

It's not quite that simple though. How much money have they invested in developing the training ground, buying players, those loans that were converted into shares... I'm sure they'd still make a profit if they sold but it may not be as much of a profit as we think.

For me the worst case would be if the Liebherrs don't want to invest more money in the club and also set an unrealistically high sale price.

Nah...too similar to the last "Cortesegate crisis", I expect more posturing at this weeks press conference.

if they do that and effectively force cortese out they could well harm their asset. there's no indication that they've got any idea how ti manage it without him. If the manager goes as well (maybe nicola anticipated this and gave him an exit clause) the club could be rudderless.

there's also no strong indication of a buyer lined up who has their own CEO and manager lined up.

edit: no the exit clause would be unnecessary wouldn't it, his contract is running out.

See, that's what I'm thinking - it'd be very strange to let him walk because they don't want to sell, because it's very unlikely the value of the club would exactly improve if he left (assuming there's a grain of truth in the idea that Pochettino and a number of players are all loyal enough to want to follow him out the door). It seems like it'd just make sense for them to sell if it really came down to the wire.

Surely the logical conclusion when the owner isn't interested in the club is for the owner to sell.
