Not why Pardew departed from what I've been told...

You're biased North because Clive is a mate of yours!

Never trust anyone that can't be totally subjective.

I am so with Northolt on this it isn't true.

First up Nines mate, you should only post a link not copy and paste the whole piece. Clive puts his heart and soul into his work and deserves to record the hits on his blog.

Secondly why do people complain that it is too long? It is like complaining that it is dark at night. Of course it is long, Clive writes a lot, either accept it or don't bother reading his work. I know I'm sounding like a broken record on this, but I'm not the only one. If you haven't got the attention span or interest to read his work, then don't read it. Please don't complain that it is too long; you know it will be before you start. I always find his work interesting and wish I could write half as well as him.

With you on this Roller, but from the opposite end of the spectrum. I know Nines posted this in good faith, but I thought we had already had the discussion that writers/bloggers prefer to have links posted rather than their articles cut and pasted, and I see no problem in respecting this.

Personally I am not a fan of this chaps work, but I am only aware of it when its posted on here (had never heard of him until a couple of months ago). I commented then, but haven't since - if others enjoy his stuff, great, but its easy enough to ignore if you don't. Putting Clive Whittingham in the thread title (nice one Nines) and posting the link would save us the repetitive debates about what he writes.

Roller, in my view you are a far better writer than Clive, and I'm not just saying that because you are bigger than me and will be standing next to me at the Sunderland game.

Fatter certainly, anyway I'll slip you a tenner at the match!

Clive's output is phenomenal. My latest article, which should be finished soon, has taken my well over a month, he produces 3 or 4 of this quality a week; I couldn't dream of doing that. As ever, it is a matter of personal taste and I'm very proud to read that you prefer my work.

It is just me being grumpy as usual, but it irks me because I'm on the other side of this from time to time mate, and I'm shallow enough to enjoy seeing the hits on my blog rising. A few fewer hits on LFW undoubtedly makes no difference to Clive, but the principle is important, bloggers union and all that!

Look forward to seeing you before the Sunderland match mate. Have any arrangements been agreed yet?

No worries on my part my friend. I can fully understand where you're coming from. It's not something I've really considered before. I shall make a point of clicking on your blog every time I come on here to give you some hits.

I think the Sunderland game will be in the same venue as usual, The Conningham Arms. Should be a good meet-up as there are quite a few on here that are going. Norway is over for this one too which is always a pleasure. Unless of course anyone else has any better ideas.
