I was once on a TV show on ITV Digital representing Saints in a football quiz... I had to do a 1minute spotlight round and my subject was the FA Cup run from 1976.
In my teens when I was doing everything in my power to annoy my parents (Joy B is still doing it only it us he seeks to annoy) I went through my Marxist period to challenge their liberal political leanings. I would read Zola's Germinal and quote passages out loud to them. Like parents everywhere they were very tolerant and my Mother would just say "Yes dear" or "of course dear". I liked to think I was a bit like Ãtienne, the books idealistic hero, and it is probably from that time in my youth that I became a bit of a Francophile. I became engrossed in Zola's books and I think I read them all. The Debacle was hard going though.
Coming on here is a bit like having a conversation down the pub with your mates (minus beer of course) in that the thread wanders all over the place depending on what little hooks the content catches in your mind.
who says it's minus the beer? My time on here is often accompanied by a beer, though more often a glass of red; preferably a Burgundy.
