I sit in the south stand, just to the right of the goal and have done for two seasons. It's a good view; when I first got it I wondered if the angle would be a tad strange, but it's all gravy.

I haven't really seen a lot of South Stand fans on here (or fans of the SS for short.....mmm perhaps a less infamous name is required), just wondered what your opinions of it were?

Personally I like it, having sat in all ends of the KC, I think it has the best area for families as it allows the kids to sing, but those that don't want to can enjoy the game. The guy that sits in the row in front of me, and about 6 seats across is constantly giving out abuse, to pretty much anybody on the pitch. He called Caleb Folan a 'cocoa faced ****er' once; nobody batted an eyelid. Bit odd, I've seen people in the East Stand thrown out for less.

The fans in the East Stand right next to us do get a bit irritatating. They try to get the "We're the East/South stand Hull city" chant going every five minutes. It's fine once, but not all game. When the South Stand don't respond, they hurl abuse and start jeering. Then it's "South Stand, give us a song". Never before has the phrase "shut the **** up and watch the game" been more appropriate. It is frustrating when we are winning and the other fans are more focused on us not singing than watching probably the best home performance I've seen since we beat Everton a few years back.

But they are personal annoyances and I do enjoy where I sit, especially when there is a stunner about 6 rows down. No wonder I don't have the concentration to sing.....

Yeah, the South Stand is pretty good and I would sit there more often, but I just don't like not having a good view of action at the other end.
 
I've never been a big fan of sitting behind the goal apart from at away games where we dont have much choice. I sit in E4, 8 rows from the front and have an excellent view and a good atmosphere all around us. This is the main reason why I'm personally reluctant to up sticks and move into the north stand!
 
ive always been a passholder in the south..
i much prefer the view from behind the goal, and disagree you get a better view along the side, as i think its hard to get a good perception of whats happening down the other side of the pitch, i get annoyed when shoved down the side away from home....each to there own i guess..

When was this exactly?

I don't think we heard the East stand/south stand song this season until Donny. It's been a miss, as it's one of the few that actually builds up the atmosphere. And there has certainly been no jeering of the South stand coming from the east this season. There's hardly been anything coming from anywhere.
 
I sit in the South Stand - Row Y to the left of the goal as you are looking at the pitch. I am one of four females (one who is only six - bless her) who seem to be the only fans in our vicinity that like to sing. On Saturday we struck up several choruses of "She'll be wearing black and amber.........." all to no avail. In fact my husband did hear someone say "shall we get the stewards" although he thinks he was joking. The problem is that we can't help sounding like high pitched squeaky females - it's what we are! So come on all you males sat near us - join in and embarrass yourselves as well!:emoticon-0100-smile
 
Tommy... i think you'll find the part of the East Stand you're abusing here is where i sit....... if South Stand wasn't such boring ****ers that it needs a fat guy and a 10 year old in your South Corner to get the stand singing... then you all need to be electrocuted unless you join in.....South stand is about as miserable as the West.. If the KC needs an atmosphere you can see why we dont have one! one reason next season im moving myself into a more singing prone area to be away from these moaning twats who sit in silence

I wasn't moaning, I'm more than happy to sit there, it just gets to me that there are people more focused on winding up their own fans than watching their team. I like to sing, don't get me wrong, it's just not a legal requirement for watching Hull City. Having travelled 300 miles to get there, I don't always have the energy to do it! And I'm not abusing anybody either, that wasn't the case. The South Stand do sing, or they used to at least. I always had the view that the stadium looks to the East Stand to start the singing off, once it gets going, everybody joins in, but there have been occasions where it starts off about 20 rows behind me. I do agree that the atmos has dipped a little, but the majority of people that sit around me are like 80. Maybe I could start a conga?

P.S. Don't be a **** about it pal, I'd rather drink the **** that pours from Immingham Industrial works than be a S****horpe fan.
 
The East/South stand was getting going and sounded good on watching it back.. if it wasnt for that Doncaster goal ruining it! i reckon against Boro we should get the West Stand involved!
 
the city fans having a go at each other gets on my tits to be fair..
its started creeping into away games too, at forest and coventry..
funnily enough, i didnt see any of the main culprits alongside me at swansea last tuesday night...
says it all really..

I would love it if the West Stand joined in, that would be pretty awesome. Didn't mean for the OP to sound moany, I just got my council tax bill through and it's about 937 more than it should be.

Incidentally, does anybody know where the Scandanavian fans sit? There was an article about them in the programme, but I didn't see any flags?
 
See that's what I thought. I seem to remember there was a random contingent of dutch fans who came across in the PL seasons and sat there. Yeah, some Irish fans in the WSU, also an Iranian flag there too, international fan base can't be bad!

Dutch fans have been over this season as well. There are a couple of separate groups of them. Typically the police don't approve, holding them back after one game and then bussing them straight to the dock despite the sailing not being until much later. No chance of them spending there money in the city, as they would have done. No wonder we didn't get considered for a world cup venue if the authorities got an inkling of how useless the Humberside plod are. They told someone from Hull that had help organise them coming that infuture thye wanted a list of who was coming and details of arrival etc. So much for a free country. Terrorists, murderers etc are apparently free to come and go s they please but not football fans.
