You're right there. Very rarely is any war "just", but WW2 definitely was. Even moreso in retrospect.

Iraq is a total **** up and it is certainly questionable why the war started but most nations agreed with removing Saddam from power as did I.

I don't know what the ref was thinking. Good to see Fletcher looking in good shape though from purely selfish point of view. Could Scotland still qualify though? I'd love to see 1 or 2 of the other home nations at the Euros, including the Republic. My first World Cup was spent following the Irish in the US.

In retrospect it was also avoidable, the Treaty of Versailles was "sowing the seeds of future war" according to Woodrow Wilson after it was signed. You put a people in a desperate situation and they will seek desperate solutions, as in the north of Ireland or the Weimar Republic.

The T of V was very harsh, but I can understand why. Not just to punish, but as a deterrent. If Germany and Austria hadn't been treated so harshly who's to say they wouldn't have acted as aggressors again afterwards, believing that they could "get away with it" again. Unfortunately it didn't work. But hindsight is a powerful tool.

Plus Mick, Germany wasn't in a desperate position when it started to break the conditions of the Treaty. It was thriving. So a different situation to that in NI.

He was a horrible bastard but I don't believe that the war happend due to Saddam being nasty to his people. If that was the case then how many other countries would have been invaded? Zimbabwe of course, North Korea definitely. It would be to simple to just say 'oil' but I'm sure it factored. I'm sure we'll never know for sure but it's a terrible waste of life, including all the you soldiers sent there by people who have probably never thrown a punch in their lives let alone fired a weapon.

My own personal theory is that it was due to Bush Jrs fingers being in so many defence companies who were set to gain the contracts from a war and September 11th gave him the carte blanche to sell any conflict to the American people.

Aye I agree, but my point was Hitler was in by the stage it started to thrive - and the Germans let a nutcase dictator in because of the situation.

If Hitler had of died of natural causes in 1938 he would probably have been remembered as Germany's greatest ever statesman.

I'm sure his friends in the arms industry didn't do too badly either.

If anyone is going to be invaded, it will probably be me. I 've been called a c**t quite a few times - but don't let that stop you ! I 've got a water pistol (That qualifies as an WMD because that's all Bush found in Iraq. ) But what really worries me is that I ' ve got a can of oil in my garage.

I only pretend to righteous, when I take power in a bloody coup I'm going to be a right bastard.

I've got a list of purges already, everyone who has ever appeared on ITV (no exceptions) and every **** who has more than 10 tweets on Twitter.
