Do you mean to suggest that anybody who stated the the BPL is weaker is having a go at Swansea's achievements?? Seems a little paranoid. I actually think the majority of people have been very impressed with Swansea, but, as stated earlier, when discussing the concept of a weaker PL, comparisons are being made between the top clubs of respective leagues. There is nothing in that which suggests that Swansea do not deserve recognition for their performances.

I think sometimes you are looking for criticism that is not there.

Fans from many clubs in general, some football blogs, and some forums. The opinion is some quarters is because of the failure of the big teams the league standard is dropping. That is where I start.

You stated, "regurgitated by clubs", so I assumed you meant a number of clubs.

Clubs regurgitating what pundits say , pundits was the whole premise of the argument to start with . Cardiff posters went on about pundits saying " It's a weak Premier League " Swan fans asked for proof of it , none came . Pundits say one thing ( right or wrong ) , Scumdits try to turn it into something else maybe , hard to say unless Cardiff posters show all these " Pundit remarks .. Cheers

Well, if they are stated on radio, as in Talksport, or on TV it is hard to produce. As an example, I was watching Steve Mcmahon and a panel discuss it for awhile on Star Sports. They feel the weakness of clubs in Europe is a sign that the BPL is weaker. Allan Hansen has a blog about it. At the end of the day it is all opinion be it a pundit or fan.

To deny the topic is being spoken about and that some agree and some disagree seems strange. It would almost appear as being overly defensive. Why you feel the need to defend Swansea based on their performances, I am not sure. They have proven themselves on the pitch.

If you do not believe that the BPL is weaker fine, but to suggest that all fans from "other clubs" are all talking about this as a way to bring Swansea down seems paranoid. My interest in the topic is the demise in Europe, a very large and unexpected demise. It would seem more logical to identify the two or three posts that appear to be attacking Swansea and focusing on these couple then all of these "other clubs."

I will try to ignore scumdits as the word "scum" seems to be the flavour of the month as seen on our board by a visiting poster.

This was not meant to be a long debate as I fully applaud the Swans, but an observation that you are defending your side against an imaginary attack from "clubs". I will leave it at that.

If you're judging the quality of the BPL on its teams Champions League performances, then last year must have been about the best year ever don't you agree?

Arsenal have lost key players, manu have a new goalie, Man City and Totenham are much improved, what else has changed?

People are confusing the rise of the Spanish League with the fall of the BPL.

Agree with that. The Spanish league has move ahead. It also appears that the top clubs in other leagues are starting to establish a strong groundwork. The next couple of seasons will tell how Europe will pan out. There does seem to be some great youngsters playing outside of England now.

You watched La Liga recently? The game between Malaga and Espanol was worse than Cardiff v Bristol - and that's saying something. Simulation everywhere and referees allow it by falling for it every time. Shockingly bad. Give me the Prem every time. The most competitive League in the world imo.

Top sides like Real & Barca are something else though.

Agreed to some extent KJ. But then watch Wolves v Bolton or Wigan v Stoke. Competitive doesn't always mean the most skillful. La Liga is a different breed and I don't mind sitting back and watching a match. I agree that the BPL is still the most exciting to me, but I guess I am biased as well.

I think the thing is top sides from other leagues are looking as well drilled and even better skilled than their British counterparts not just Spain.

...so contrary to you, he's saying Man U are actually stronger this season. <laugh> Interesting that the article goes back to before the halfway point in the season though (mid November).

But well done, you've found one person - the Benfica coach...and his name is Jesus! Wow. I admire your determination if nothing else. I'd like to know what other quotes you unearthed when you entered the Google search for 'poor premier league' in your rather silly attempt to make a point.

The comments at the end of the article are much more entertaining.....and accurate. Including: "Jesus, after that comment, people are going to start putting their bibles away." <laugh>

Swamp has shown his true colours at last.
He has dug very deep to try and find some kind of justification for his earlier post, viz,"most of the pundits you see on TV... are playing down the quality of the P.L."
Despite numerous requests to name names, all he has produced is Jorge Jesus.
What a pathetic attempt from him. Better if he hadn't bothered.
He's just a poor mans profit.
At least prof would have given us value for money,by producing reams and reams of nonsense to justify his arguments.

actually no, benfica are playing chelsea in the quarter final and it cropped up in an article i read somewhere..

i am not forcing anyone to believe me, its just a point of view, which i'm entitled to.

i have also said on numerous occasions that swansea have been fantastic this season, but hey, ignore that and believe that i have a massive plan to annoy you all and cause arguments, when at the end of the day all i'm doing is giving my opinions on a football forum!

Of course everyone's entitled to an opinion but there are some cautionary markers when reading Swampy posts:

1: You seem to have a different approach when on your own forum (particularly when egging on the Moron Hughs).
2: Your argument that "pundits" have been saying the same thing as you appears to be paper thin.
3: Your assertion that this article is just "something tat you read somewhere"....ditto.

...all of which lead me to believe that you're being disingenuous here. Vetch has a point. Profit was exactly the same (but much more long winded and boring you'll be glad to hear!) <laugh>

Nobody is expecting us to be praised to the skies all the time, least of all by Cardiff fans, but if you have an opinion about the lowering of standards in the Premier League you can't expect us to believe that's anything except sour grapes - particularly when there seems to be very little evidential foundation from what I've seen - other than 'Jesus said so'. Mind you, that's pretty impressive. <laugh>
