Oaks winner Soul Sister has had a recurrence of a niggling injury and has been retired to stud and goes straight to Sea The Stars. Soul Sister's dam Dream Peace fetched 2,700,000gns at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale of 2013 and Soul Sister has been her only filly foal to date following 5 colt foals

Lady Bamford has been the owner/breeder of 2 Oaks winners in recent times - Sariska (2009) and Soul Sister (2023). The interesting and surprising 'stat' re both however is that they commenced their Classic season with a run outside the 1-2-3 placings in the Fred Darling - Sariska (4th), Soul Sister (last of 12).

Will Lady Bamford be running another filly in next weekend's Royal Berkshire Guineas trial?!? If she does sit up and take notice if its not, I say not, placed!!!

Would that be Star Jasmine?

To be honest I wasn't thinking about any particular filly. re 2024, just highlighting the owner/breeders somewhat bizarre, yet successful, Fred Darling - Oaks 'journey'.

In saying that though they may well be tempted by the Fred Darling with Star Jasmine. Her recent Bath win certainly confirmed she's in good form.

The Frankel/Sea the Stars cross obviously means close inbreeding to Urban Sea. The cross to date of Frankel over Sea the Stars mares has produced 8 winners from 13 runners, including G1 winner ONESTO.

The reverse cross of Sea the Stars over Frankel mares has only had 2 runners to date, neither have won.
