So back to the original post about a song for Beckford....

And they say
Hes joined a class A Team
Stuck in their daydream
Been this way since smallteam
But lately their face sinks
Slowly sinking, wasteing
Falling down the league

And they scream
The best things in life come free to us
Coz were just about to go under the pan
Buy the league for a couple of grand

Ed Sheeran - Class A Team

I think fits the bill quite well

So you're sat at work with nothing to do so you waste you're time making a song designed to wind other people up?

<laugh> I actually feel sorry for you!

10 in 17 would have been sensational! That would be not far off 30 goals a season at this level! I think 8 in 17 is impressive enough.

He scored 10 in 38 appearances.

10 in 17 starts.

Just less than 1 in every 90 minutes of football.

They are the stats.

Hows this?

Jermaine Beck Beck-Ford,
Big, Strong and f**king fast,
Jermaine Beck Beck-Ford,
Dirty Leeds days in the Past,

To the left, to the right,
Beckfords dynamite tonight,
And He’ll score all the goals,
To take us to the top flight!

Definitely have too much time on my hands!

Sergio Aguero wasn't proven in the Prem.

Doesn't make him a bad signing for City does it?

What a silly thing to say.....

Aguero came from La Liga, so the chances of him fitting in in the premiership are pretty high.

Lets look at the facts and put this debate to bed:

Beckford has played in total, starts and subs - 34 games he has scored 8 premier league goals FACT. Not a proven record in the Premiership, HOWEVER he has scored goals in the Premiership which is obviously a higher standard than the CCC, so one would assume, that he would score a lot of goals for Leicester in this division. But there is no way in getting away from the fact, he is not PROVEN as Nicky is in this division.

Maynard has played 100 games for Bristol City and in all fairness, probably not had the same quality of players to back him up that Leicester have and has scored 40 goals (not sure how many are starts/subs) FACT. IMO proven goal scorer in the CCC

I fail to see your point tbh, we tried so hard to sign Maynard, and the value we were willing to pay for him was very very reasonable for a CCC player in the last year of his contract.

Fact is that we spent less than half of that money you rejected on a player with premier league experience, he may not be better than Maynard, thats down to personal opinion, but we're happy none the less. Beckfords stats this season will be more genuine, as he will be getting more starts.

Aguero has came from a different country and playing style, there is no certainty that he will fit in straight away. Thats the way it is, a different style of football. He can't even speak the language for god sake. The chances of him 'fitting in;' are incredibly slim.

So that's that sorted.

Now,

When have I said that Beckford is more proven than Maynard in the NPC for starters?

Secondly, you'll realise when you open you're eyes that Jermaine scored 10 goals last season from 17 starts at a higher standard than Nicky who scored 6 goals in 13 games. Make of that what you will, i'll make it that Beckford is the better striker.

We are not planning on staying in this division for long so why would we go buy players that are not experienced with the Prem when we can get players withthat experience for less than half the price.

Beckford scored 70 plus goals in 100 games for Leeds in League one with a worse midfield than both of us, does that make him only capable of playing in that league? No. Jermaine has been nothing short of outstanding in League one while being above average in the Prem. That doesn't scream out to me as though he'll struggle in this league does it?

We'll see who scores more goals by the end of the season.

Myself, the bookies, pundits and public all think Beckford will be brilliant in this league.

He has not scored 10 premier league goals numpty!

He has scored 8 premier league goals, 1 FA Cup Goal agaisnt Scunthorpe and 1 League Cup goal against Huddersfield!

Those 2 hardly scream of premiership now do they!

Before you go posting about how hes scored loads of goals in the prem, go do your homework.

Thank you for taking the time to research Leicester City players and their stats. It shows you care and are interested in our club, which is a good thing.

Alas, I cannot return the favour because I neither know or indeed care to know about any of the stats of a Bristol City player.

Thanks for stopping by though :)

No problem, it cant be easy knowing that someone that doesnt support your team actually knows more about your football club than a true supporter does.

The only thing that will decide whether Beckford is a success or not is at the end of the season when we look at his goal-record for the season. Last season with Everton, it was very much a season of two halves for him. The first half was him adapting to the PL and he did struggle but the 2nd half he did settle and started scoring more regularly. Also, ourselves, Norwich, Brighton and Southampton have proved the gap between League 1 and the Championship isn't as big as it would seem so the stats suggest he's capable of scoring at this level. But as I said, we'll only know at the end of the season.

To be honest, I think both Maynard and Beckford are good strikers and I would have liked either but when you consider that we got Beckford for half the price I think we got the better option.

And just to show how pointless those links were:
