Not sure their agents and advisers will have been completely unaware of the benefits they had got from the transactions, as I assume they paid less tax because of it. Looks like the only way Rangers Newco will get in will be as a Third Division club. We were offered that, without any points deductions, but we took League 1 with -15 points as the gambling alternative. Don't think Rangers Newco will get a choice
It's by no means certain that they'll even get in to div 3, btw! Depends how many enemies they have, as they need votes for it too. Btw, it's common for footballers to get paid 'netto' - i.e. they only discuss the bottom line, & it's up to the clubs how they get to that figure. So I don't expect any players to be pursued by HM Taxman.
