He brings very little to the team, apart from goals. But goals win games so we should be playing him more often
I don't rate him but you can't argue with his goal tally since Kenny arrived. But before Kenny under Rafa and Hodgson was he anywhere near effective? I know that's irrelevant now but he's a passenger most of the time so he definitely shouldn't be a starter. He also doesn't show up against the big teams, so maybe he should be used as an impact sub?
Kenny certainly seems to know which games to play him in. Either you rely on older players and only bring in youngsters when they retire or you sit older players on the bench and give the youngsters experience. It's going to cost at some point. It's like toothache: you can get it sorted now or do it when it's all pus-filled and it really hurts.
Maxi Rodriguez and Creig Bellamy came on to change the game yesterday. May be Rodriguez is good as a sub.
He might not look like he's not doing much when he plays. But if you look closely his movement is brilliant. Such an experienced, intelligent player. People need to realise that the reason he always scores is because he's always in the right place, and that's down to his intelligence in reading the game. I think Kenny has done well with him as if he played too often he would probably burn out due to his age and fitness, however I do see the argument that he should be played more often, and agree with it to a certain extent.
I like maxi not just his goals but his style and knowledge of the game. Most of the time he will ghost into the box and latch on to the ball Glad he gave us another season as he wanted to go back to his boyhood club. Will he get another season???HOPE SO Back on topic i agree with ZZ that kenny is trying not to burn him out with playing all the time but uses him as an impact player, some games he will start but most of the time he's on the bench and i agree with that Like i said i do hope he stays at the end of this season top player
All was going well till maxi asked to be allowed ot go to some club for little or nothing, since then he has been marginalised, some time has past and maybe its all been sorted, hope he plays more, can tuck em away and has that knack of arriving at the back post
After Gerrard Rumour has it that JW Henry mentioned Maxi to Kenny last week when they spoke, asking why he didnt play more
I havent seen much from Gerrard recently to suggest he's better (currenty). Maxi in the box nearly always puts it away, as does Gerrard I suppose. Stevie is struggling atm.
I think he's been touted by many of us this season and with good reason....we've seriously lacked goals...Maxi looks like one of the coolest we've got in front of goal when given a chance. While I appreciate he can go missing in matches and probably wouldn't be a regular starter in a team capable of winning league titles, we are miles off that standard this year so I personally would've liked to see more of him whether that be starting or coming on as sub. I don't think 15 goals in 60 odd appearances is too shabby for a wide (ish) player and he has 42 caps for Argentina with a dozen goals. I do think players who perform should be allowed to keep their place until they stop performing and I'm not sure Maxi's always been treated quite fairly in this respect. I would like him to play the final against Chelsk...score a hat trick....then Abramovich can have him for 50 mill
