Back on the subject of Pardew, anyone else perplexed at his decision to take off M'Biwa who was in my opinion our best player, he was outstanding both offensively and defensivle and then Jonas got put to left back?!?!?! <doh>

He seemed to be limping a little. He has got me wondering if he is a powerful right back I must admit.

Perplexed by a Pardew tactical change? Nope, 'fraid not. I think nothing really summed up the season better than the last game. No goals scored, no real threat up front, Jonas playing another 90 minutes yet ending up at left back - regardless of how well the left back is playing - and a steady stream of cluelessness throughout the team. Maybe if Shola had come on at 60 minutes and perhaps if Arsenal had won 3 or 4 nil it would have been the perfect reflection of the season, but there you go. Can't have everything...

Yeah i thought that, I reckon if we could keep Colo one more season, With M'Biwa playing mainly at full back for a smoother transition, he could fill at CB when injuries leave us short etc and then he could step in at CB after next season. He really impressed me yesterday.

Argh, no! Let's not repeat the Pardew/Sissoko balls up (oh, look, he scored - must be a No10 then....).

I'm not serious, though - MYM actually looks more like a full back. He doesn't look comfortable trying to command a back four but does like to beat a man.

If you look at the managerial appointments made by Ashley and his board of directors you will see that things need to change for the better before this club starts looking towards a brighter future:

    Kevin Keegan:
Chris Mort was in the role currently occupied by Derek Llambias until Chris left his post for pastures new and in came Mike's gambling buddy to take charge of a Premier League club as a bro gift (akin to giving a pal a novelty Beer chalice) Derek then went on to bring in Tony Jiminez and Dennis Wise, both were said to of been brought in to oversee the growth of our youth but in fact were brought in to undermine Keegan, resulting to Kevin Keegan walking after talks with the top brass and went on to rightfully sue Ashley for constructive dismissal.

    Joe Kinnear:
Joe Kinnear was out of work since leaving Wimbledon and he was terrible, his relationship with the players was laughable, the performances where just below average and the appointment itself was a great insult to the club and it's support. Kinnear left the club in April of 2009 due to medical conditions and as a result of boardroom decisions the club were in trouble that year.

    Alan Shearer:
He was given 7 games to undo the rot (of which they were plenty) and grab enough points to secure our Premier League status. We came just short at the end of the season, Alan Shearer and Joey Barton came to blows and the club were relegated. The following season the boardroom made plans of a new manager without giving the club icon the respect of even letting him know.

    Chris Hughton:
Originally an interim manager but had earned himself a full contract by guiding the club back to the Premier League first time of asking, we finished mid-table and had a handful of home grown stars coming through with terrific leadership coming from the likes of Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton and Fabricio Coloccini. This club had direction and the fans were happy, but after a 3-1 loss to West Brom whilst the club sat at 13th position Chris hughton was shockingly sacked to the horror of the fans and the players and to the surprise of Hughton himself.

    Alan Pardew:
Alan Pardew was a shock appointment to succeed Chris Hughton, having been relieved of his job at Southampton having obliterated the morale of the playing staff and also his sour relationship with owner Nicola Cortese. That season Newcastle finished 12th having allowed West Brom to come back from 3-0 down to lose 2 points. Then came season 2011/12 and he made a great start and we where close to the top of the league for the first 10 games and we had surprisingly finished 5th and qualified for European competition, it was incredible although a lot of the Football that season was a little ugly they where no complaints. It appeared we may be wrong about Pardew and we all were curious of his second full season at the club and if he could help achieve a good season a second time and whether or not the previous season was a fluke. It was awful, the Football was extremely direct, the set pieces where severely lacking of any organization, effective players were secluded whilst underperforming players were continuously played. Players of certain positions were forced to continuously play in positions they were obviously incapable of performing in despite horrific form from very talented players. We almost got relegated from the Premier League for the second time in Premier League history and it would of been the second time under the current regime.

Make of it what you will, I think we need a Rafa Benitez to take us forward and keep well away from the likes of Joe Kinnear, Alan Pardew etc. It's time to change our ways and show a little more ambition before we're facing relegation yet again and we won't get so lucky next time I assure you.

As I said, the owner is the problem. There is ZERO chance of appointing someone like Benitez with this guy in charge - your post sums that up, can't understand the conclusion you reached!!!!

I wont knock his feelings for the club. I think from day one he was proud to be the Newcastle manager, and to some extent he has defended the club and in the eyes of the media he is a respectable guy.

But that does not change the poor management of the team, the stats just say so much more than we can. We're so so lucky we are not down. Sunderland have grabbed Di Canio, and I say we go and grab Poyet. We need the innovation and young fresh manager will bring. He'd be a great fit.

The guy said "we haven't got the Europa League, that'll give everyone a boost."

Erm. Everyone? Honestly, I don't know why Newcastle even exist, Ashley might as well turn SJP into a distribution warehouse if our intention every year is to finish bottom of the fair play league and no higher than 8th. How can we approach a cup with any integrity, when the prize is playing in the Europa League?

I just don't understand why these questions aren't put to Pardew. Spurs will be disappointed to head for the Europa League, but they were in it last year and only just missed out on 4th. I don't know why someone isn't hanging this fcking guy out to dry, I have never heard so endlessly the same tired, bollox excuses.

I dislike the Europa. Too many games have devalued it as a competition. You'd barely know Chelsea had won a European tournament this year! I wouldn't want to be in it again until the owner decides he is willing to provide the squad depth to cope. What's the point?

But surely entering the Europa League is part and parcel of growing as a club, in ALL senses? Stature, profitability, global reach, subsequent ability to be bigger and better in the league, and so on? That's the leverage it gives, that was the leverage that was completely ignored by the owner last Summer. So whilst your point is right, it's not worth entering more or less anything unless the clubs owners or directors want to achieve something, then it's a question of "are you happy to follow a club with no ambition?"

Personally, I'm not, and the sooner life becomes untenable for Mike Ashley the better, in my book. This club should be shooting for some trophies and any club with this fan base should be aiming to hit the Champs League - it's almost impossible, but that's the goal. Winning the league is a step too far. But we're in a privileged position of at least havign all it takes to get to 4th.

As it stands, it looks like 5th place was a one off. Pardew claiming he needs 2 players next year is hogwash. We'll be relegated again under Ashley if we're not careful. Then let's see what glorious managers are lined up.

Pardew's comments suggest to me he is fully aware of the constraints we'll be working under. If last summer is not a lesson learned then I don't know what will be. We all knew we were short in wide areas. We all knew we were short at centre back. We all knew we needed strikers. So we signed Anita. A good replacement for Guthrie, but hardly the guy to cover the rest of those bases.

I know what you mean, the lack of ambition can be a passion killer. I just can't help it, I'm a complete glutton for punishment when it comes to this club! I think we've all just developed a sadistic nature through the years.

You can't, I win, so Alan stays!!! <diva>

Passionate about his ego More like

    QUOTE=Norma Snockers;4767154]
Totally disagree. Pardew clearly loves the club and has plenty of passion. Its the one thing you can't accuse him of to be honest. He may have had a bad season but the guy is clearly passionate about his job, the club and football in general.[/QUOTE]
